Figo Refused To Come On Against Liverpool
Inter Milan’s internal problems go from bad to worse following reports that Luis Figo refused to come on as a substitute against Liverpool last night.

The Nerazzurri crashed out of the Champions League after their 1-0 defeat at San Siro to Rafa Benitez’s men meant that they went down 3-0 on aggregate.

Figo was seen warming up on the touchline for quite sometime, and many were expecting him to be introduced either at the interval, or in the early part of the second half.

This was not so, and Mancini waited until Fernando Torres had scored on 63 minutes, before deciding that Figo should be unleashed.

Mancini called Figo towards him, but twice the Portuguese winger pretended not to hear the calls from his coach.

Mancio then turned to assistant boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, who said clearly, “I will not go there [to go and get him].”

After the game Mancini tried to deny that Figo had refused to play.

“Figo has been out injured for a long time, so this was a delicate situation. He did not refuse to come on,” said the ex-Lazio boss.

However the understanding in Italy is that this is not what happened. At the final whistle Figo was so furious that he left the stadium without uttering a word, or even offering any eye contact to journalists.

I would be worried if we draw English opponents, we've no great record at their grounds and that won't help. I'd hope it would be Schalke, Roma or even Barcelona. No team left has more European Cups than us, only Real Madrid and AC Milan have been in more finals in the last ten years and they are both out.

European Cups

5 Liverpool
2 Barcelona
2 Man Utd
0 Chelsea
0 Arsenal
0 Schalke
0 Roma
0 Fenerbahce

We've got more than the rest put together! We should fear noone, but why should we get a tough draw when the mancs, Chelski, Barca and lesser so Arsenal got easy(ish) L16 matches? Last thing we really want is the bloody blues again, unless it's an omen for the semis of course!

And one for fergie, since Rafa took over and assembled a less expensive squad, their respective CL records look like this :

Rafa Benitez (Champions League 04/05-07/08)

P54 W32 D10 L12 F88 A34 (Won 59.26%, Lost 22.22%)

Alex Ferguson (Champions League 04/05-07/08)

P38 W22 D7 L9 F69 A31 (Won 57.89%, Lost 23.68%)

And of course Rafa leads 2-0 on finals and 1-0 on wins!

04/5-07/8 - helps if you read the statistics carefully, it's a comparison of results since Rafa took over. fergie has played 14 seasons or so of CL football, no way is that few games overall

04/05-07/08? Just the one league, I get the feeling he only stayed on as manc manager after the fluke, I mean treble, because he wanted a second CL win.

As for his overall league titles count, I don't do such statistics for other teams without full blown comparisons. They more or less bought the league from 1995/1996 to 2002/3 with Arsenal being the only thorn in their side. Then when Chelski arrived and bought two league titles, Arsenal going unbeaten to win another, fergie has managed only one of the last four.

Not entirely sure the relevance of league titles, you don't need to win it (league) to be in it (champions league) and none of the other Premiership managers has shown half the aptitude of Rafa in winning in Europe. You can bet your left testicle fergie would offer a league title or three in exchange for another Champions League win. The TRULY great managers have multiple European Cups as well as multiple leagues

So Shankly isn't great because he only won ONE european trophy and that was the UEFA Cup, the same comeptition Mr Houllier won. You don't class Benitez as he hasn't got mulitple league titles (certainly not in England) Wenger isn't great in your eyes.

So the only great managers who've managed in England are Paisley, Ferguson, Clough. Obviously forget Alf Ramsay (world cup winning manager) Don Revie, Jock Stien, Bill Shankly, Kenny Dalglish or Arsene Wenger. (basing it on your theory)
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

come on shalke ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just want to avoid the mancs as losing to them would finish me off this season and would have to go to Switzerland for painless jab.
winning would be great but i would rather get them in the final as quaters or semis would feel like a final and my finger nails couldn't handle it

Beating Man Utd and putting them out would be brilliant and give us years of bragging rights.

Losing to Man Utd.........Lets not talk about that  :oh:

Does anyone think there maybe a few "warm" balls in the pot and all the English teams will get drawn together?

An all English Semi-Final would be a disaster for EUFA
