You're joking, ofcourse?

His PASSING isn't up to his usual standards, but his defending is still outstanding.

He is still one of our best players, even if his passing isn't right.

The Times today has this formation:

-------- Reina ---------
--- Agger  Hyypia   Carra ---
Finnan--------------Aurelio
Gerrard  Sissoko   Zenden
--- Bellamy  Kuyt ---

It's pure guess-work but interesting

if you are goiing to drop Xabi you might as well drop the whole team. sorry macca don't agree with you on that one. As 5000 other people have said . Everyone will have a difference of oppinion on who would and should be in the starting line, RB has let's face done an extremely great job for the club and I am sure the wins will come. If you put yourself in his shoes he has to rotate squad members for obvious reasons.injuries, fitness etc
Personally the squad is the size and way it is because RB thinks that everyone has the talent to be in the team and the campaign is long. We have got  to stop making excuses on who should and shouldn't play because realistically this issue will not go away. ....Our squad is big with players who can all make the starting line up.

Is there any player in the squad who shouldn't be there?

And if you are going to drop a player because of poor form. Give him a run in the reserves to get his confidence back. You can't bench Xabi for example and expect him to come back the six billion dollar man if he is not on the park.

Things will get better. There is too much talent there:)

As usual against Dutch sides ,possession and good movement off the ball will be key. Alonso must play in my opinion. I would also like Kuyt and Bellamy to start. As a few people have said we seem to be starting games slowly, its time we started fast and an early goal would be nice for a change.

Im giving up predictions of the score I think its bad luck.

This is going to be a hard game( no s*** I hear you say) I would be happy with a 0-0 or even better a 1-1 , a win might be too much to ask so soon in the year and after such a stop start too the season.
I dont think its going to be a great game.I just hope we stay fit and come away still in the game.
I an in no way down beat about this but i just see it for what it is....a hard game.

I would like to see Pennant play. I would also like to see Garcia play up with Kuyt as I see that that will be a smart pairing.

[quote]why does everyone keep suggesting that alonso be dropped? the guy needs games so he can play himself back into form[quote]

:glare:

Be honest with yourself, if it were Finnan, Crouch, Warnock or someone like Riise would you be sat there saying let him find form after a few below performances. I'd put money on it you'd be saying bring in Fowler or Kuyt for Crouch. Play Aurelio instead of Riise, nobody instead of Finnan :D .
You would, wouldnt you ?
Be honest with yourself, if they were'nt playing to there usual standard, you wouldnt let them carry on being a possible liabilty or passenger. I am an Alonso fan, but that isnt going to cloud my judgement on him if he's not producing the minerals. In saying that though, I'm not going to say the likes of Stevie G & Alonso arent droppable because of the names on the back of there shirts.

At the moment Gerrard himself and Sissoko IMO are in better form, and therefore would provide a better pairing in the middle of the park. Lets be honest Xabi's game is based on his reading of the game and getting in the right positions to screen the defence, he's still doing that to good effect. But the main other aspect of his game is his passing and it isnt up to scratch, and uncharacteristaclly he's been given the ball away very cheaply. For all his attributes and as important as he is, he doesnt have the allrounded game of a midfielder IMO, Like Stevie G, Momo. He's more and defensive specialist and a ball player, to me that doesnt warrant a starting place alone if he's only capable of doing one of the two things he's great at. Especially when you've got the other two in form (Gerrard,Momo), and sometimes dropping a player can have a positive effect on him when returning to the team.

Koeman (PSV coach) has told a local paper that he counts on the smartness and fastness of his two strikers (Koné and Farfan). Hyppia and Carragher are strong, but not that fast. He'll probably play with a creative midfielder (Affelay or Mendez) behind his two strikers.

Liverpool will come out strong tonight.  Fightin spirit will be evident. Rafa will have had some strong words after saturday, and with a bit of luck PSV will get the battering of their carreers with liverpool makin up for an embarasing derby.  Kuyt and bellamy to start upfront for me, pace is important, i think with gerrard and alonso's passing ability, pacey forwards will thrive off that talent more. COME ON THE REDS!!!!!!

I have a  feeling that we (PSV) will win, it will be hard but the only 2 players of Liverpool I really fear are Kuyt and Gerard, the rest is not that threatening to us I think.

And the one thing our midfielders certainly may not do is letting gerard shoot at the goal, that guy really has a strong shot. I never really watched liverpool that many, but yesterday they showed some of his goals.... That says it all

Cant wait for tonight now really looking forward to the game, I have a different feeling than I did going into the derby, and feel we will put on a good display.

Some facts: PSV have lost just one of their home CL games in 12 that was on the 21st of Feb against Lyon. 9 wins 2 draws.

PSV have played 20 european home games against English opponents, they have won 8, 5 draws, and lost 7. The goals for and against are even 31 for 31 against.
They have never played against Liverpool.

Zenden played for PSV from 1994-1998.

Liverpools last goal scorer in the Champions League was Cisse.
That was on the  1st november 2005 against Anderlecht (3-0 ). Liverpool's results there after where, Betis  (0-0), Chelsea (0-0) and Benfica (0-1 en 0-2).
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Kenny Dalglish 1/2/2011

REST IN PEACE PHIL, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
