Premiership high earners - We have 2

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Well its all too much there can be no doubt. Its crazy money. They cannot earn what they are paid no matter how good they play, and its no joke when you pay a guy that for playing poorly. If these figures are correct I guess Keane is on some kinda loyalty bonus. Despite the silly money we are paying his £90k a week looks complete madness

Also remember Hernan Crespo, who was paid a basic 97,000 a week by Chelsea.

I know he's now with Milan, but he's still a Chelsea player, and Milan only contribute around 20,000 a week to his wages, the rest being made up by Chelsea.

I hope keane earning 90k will create disharmony in the scum camp. All he does is bitch nowadays. RVN, Ronaldo, Rooney & Giggs shouls also ask for 90K per week  :D

Kewell practically came on a free, that is how they subsidise his salary

I think when his term comes up at Liverpool we shoudl renogtiate for about 1/2 that.  If he says no way then we should cut him loose because that is him basically saying, i don't care about playing football anymore and i just want a nice treasure chest.  If he's not in it for Liverpool anymore why should we keep supporting him.  He needs to face that if he isn't playing well then he doesn't deserve to rob us blind.

In the NBA (National Basketball Association in USA), the top 10 salaries averages out to be US$15 million per person per annum. Roy Keane would not even made it to the top 30 there.

Cuz 90 000 pounds = US$ 167 000
$167,000 x 40 weeks (I assume they are not paid in offseason?) = $6,680,000

So the salary in soccer is not that obscene compared to pro basketball.

Of course I wish that salaries could be much lower so that we, the consumers, will not have to pay monstrous prices for game tickets and merchandise. But that's fat hope of course.

If there is a wage cap of some sort it must come from FIFA. Anything that is only inside the UK will mean the top players go elsewhere...

That's £74,000! (US$136,000) a WEEK my friend, or close to £4M a year excl. bonus.

One bad game and there goes my annual salary + bonus!

Manu are reported to be limiting the wage cost of new players, by introducing performance related pay, based on issues like qualification for the champs league etc. Same as they did with the transfer fee for shrek',  Everton may be lucky to get £20m for the 'redlighter' unless he performs on the pitch.

Top teams in German and Italian league are suffering financially, I am sure to a certain extend the Spanish league too (what' Real's debt on last count?)
Don't bother a bout French and Dutch league...players there are paid peanuts!

I believe as a people's game, football should be affordable and accessible to all.

But the market and TV rights for NBA is much more lucrative than Premier League. (I don't have the numbers but until Premiership has penetrated the US market, we cannot compare like-for-like with the NBA in term of financials)
