El-hadji Diouf was the first player in over 50 years to wear the number 9 shirt and not score a goal.

Does anyone know who was the previous player. I know its in my book "The Treasures of Liverpool FC" - David Walmsley with Stephen Done. But I can't for the life of me find it in the book or on the internet.

I have a picture with Diouf on it. He is running off to celebrate a goal. Unless he has swapped his top with someone else en route to celebrate his goal with the fans I am pretty sure the number he has on his back is after the number 8 and before 10

he was the 1st player to wear the number 9 and not score in 1 whole season for 50 years. not in his liverpool career.
