It totally escapes me how anyone could describe Diouf as a striker ,no power in either foot .

Jean Alain Boumsong, the new Thuram at Rangers, discovered to be one of the worst premiership defenders of all time.

i think a lot of people are missing the point here. its easy to name dodgy signings of players who were never good enough to start with and its been done a thousand times. seeing as players who have improved its fair enough to try and think of some who started good but then lost it.

kewell has to be the stand out player in that respect. such a great talent - so little seen of it.

Boumsong was considered a success at Rangers.

Dont know if many will remember him  but one of the biggest flops imo was Frank McGarvey the lad had a great reputation as a goalscorer in Scotland but came to us an i remember being dead exited but i cant even remember seeing him play an yet he went to Celtic from us an was great.

Another two flops for me were Julian Dicks and Christian Ziege

4 out of 9 failures - thats only 44%
Even if you argue (as some will) Pelligrino was not a success then thats still only 55%.

I think you´re being gracious Leon.

Little Luiz was a favourite but how many times was he pushed off teh ball or fell over?  Note he´s also failed to shine at At.Madrid (had a visitor the other from Madrid, big fan and cant wait for Nando to return homr in the CL).

I would only class Reina a success from 2005 so with respect I make that 7 out of 9 didnt work out.

I grant 2 out of 9 in fact are great buys.

That is the angle i was looking for - not players people thought were :censored: right from the off.

I would discount Dudek. Me personally I never heard of him when he was signed. We also signed Kirkland, and many, including myself expected Kirkland to No.1 with Dudek the stand in. Dudek was brilliant for us but unfortunately only his last season or so is remembered.

Baros- Started off great , scored a fair number of goals went to euro 2004 and was superb for the czechs but just never seemed to kick on .

Speedy - Looked great in La Liga , pace to burn with a decent shot on him and could easily take on a man , scored early on but never ever fullfilled any potential he seemed to have

Dudek - Looked a rock at first and was outstanding when first arrived then couple of errors just seemed to suck any ability and confidence out of him , played a blinder in the 05 final but that was more of a one off.

It really annoyed me that people were fooled by Baros. It was crystal clear.

Just as it was with Kuyt.

Nigel Clough...... 2 goals on his debut, looked the perfect replacement for Beardsley, sadly never lived up to his reputation.
