Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 115-1073096938 » Tue Dec 06, 2005 11:09 pm

Reina - 7. Commanded his box well, done what was required.

Finnan - 7. Solid as ever, was good in possession and kept Duff quiet. Good game.

Carragher - 8. Superb, for me, man of the match. Reads everything, wins everything, sweeps up around Sami superbly.

Hyypia - 8. Won everything in the air, read everything on the deck and coped well with the attacking threat of Traore, Duff, Robben and Drogba.

Clown - 4. Wasn't bad to be fair to him, he made the odd tackle and was occassionally in position to help the left wing back Riise. Its difficult playing with 10 men.

Gerrard - 7. Done well in areas and not so well in others, was sloppy in possession at times and looked a bit jaded but in general put himself about and played his part. He did carry the team forward towards the end of the match, nearly set up some counters and relieved pressure.

Hamann - 7. Defended well infront of Sami and Jamie and doesn't conceed possession easily.

Sissoko - 6. Better than he's been recently, tackled well, put in loads of effort, MUST improve his passing though, very sloppy. For me he has good potential, but he's not ready for the first team just yet, maybe a year in the reserves will do him good.

Riise - 6. Ran his balls off and covered the left back and midfield positions well. Covered the clown well all game and had a good attempt.

Luis Garcia - 5. Poor. Piss poor. Was sloppy, tried to much and was weak. Ran hard, worked hard, but i expect more. Needs to improve against the good sides.

Crouch - 6. Tried hard, done ok and linked up well. Looks better with each game.

Subs...

Kewell - 6. Looked sharp, skillfull and confident. I'd like to see him given a go with Riise behind him. He's gone well since he came back and is forcing his way into the team.

Morientes - 5. Offered little.

Sinama-Pongolle - 6. Looked bright and lively and like he could create something.

Rafa - 7. I thought the game was there to be won. Sinama on earlier for Garcia and Kewell on for the clown who should never have started.

All in all though, 8. Happy. :)

How the hell can Ping Pong get a 6 for 5 mins appearance and Garcia gets a 5 for working tirelessly with little support in an excellent defensive display by the team ?

Haha getting your ratings in 1st this week stu  :D

Cant really argue with those, Garcia had one of those games we cant really moan at but have to get on with because he is easily as capable as having a stunner.

Apart fromSissoko passing, he played well and covered a lot of ground, Still raw, but there is talent there and this was as tough a game he has played in and he didnt embaress himself.

Traore, oh well, we kept a clean sheet so cant really complain about the defence but Traores mis kicks, headers as through balls to gudjohnsen showed how much of a liability he is. Wont get away with sh!t like that again.

Jamie and Sami, nothing i can really say, as good a center half pairing in europe at the mo.

And id say the rest was average, Crouch upfront on his pown with Garcia didnt do him any favours, we know what he can do with players around him and when he links up with Stevie making runs from deep.

All in all, its another clean sheet, solid performance and top of the group, not a bad nights work.

Oh and pongo looked good and assured on the ball, a cool head in the last 80 minutes, the boys a good player and i can see him getting more of a go in the next few games before cisse leaves in January.......Which is a cert now.

Listen i'm no Garcia basher, I love the lad, always have, superb skill and invention, sloppy at times yes, but he brings alot to the squad/side.

However, tonight he was :censored:, Sinama looked like he was gonna make somethin happen in the 10 minutes he was on.

I agree with hyypia he was brill tonight but garcia was terrible, in this forum the judge has come up with the title Luis Garcia trickster and ball waster....I thought that was very true tonight, he was bad, very bad. He just didnt seem to fit in, he didnt seem like a team player. Im not saying he didnt try and I do like him in general he has been there for us before but tonight he looked out of his depth against a good Chavski side

Stu - I cant have a lad on ten minutes who got three or four touches gets a higher rating thatn a player who battled hard to link midfield and the forward line for the other 80 mins. I never said you where a Garcia basher, guilty conscience there lad ?

Dundalk, the Judge is clearly clueless on football, and you will see in that particular thread that the merits of Garcia hugely out weigh the occasional and in frequent bad games.

Don't get me wrong, the lads got potential.

But he's lacking in discipline and passing ability and occassionally positional sense and nouse.

They are all things though that look as if they will improve with age. He's already a better passer than when he first played and he's getting smarter.

A year in the reserves should help him on. I'm not saying don't play him, but i think games like this are a step to far AT THE MINUTE.

The reserves play the same solid way. He'll get more confidence and improve playing for them. Get a decent right winger in and he'll be used sparingly untill he's ready, the thing is, he will be ready soon. The lads getting there. He lost form a few weeks ago after a beltin start, now he looks as if hes findin his level again.

Leon, he looked like he'd make something happen, Luis Garcia didn't. Thats the end of it.
