Player of the season so far - Interesting point!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby mccabec2 » Sat Mar 25, 2006 7:12 pm

I remember about a week after the champions league final i was watching cribs on MTV and it was harry kewell on it and it made me so sick i couldnt even watch it but i must admit he has reallly turned it on latley. Its not so much how he is playing but for the first time i think he is playing for the jersey and for the club as opposed to a big salary. Definitley the most improved player.

As for our best player, I'm glad to say that for once this is a hard decision, there have been some outstanding performances, alonso, carragher, finnan, reina, sissoko..... its a real pity we're not up there fighting for the title.... all in all though I think it woud be wrong not to have Stevie in as our best for the season.

The mantle has been laid already for next season though.. standards have been raised and its an open race for the rest of the above named players to make a real mark on the clubs history by putting in some more memorable performances..

1. Alonso

2. Gerrard

3. Carra/Sissoko/Finnan/Reina

1. Finnan
2. Carra
3. Gerrard
4. Reina
5. Alonso

Hyypia, Sissoko, Kewell have all shown that they can be top notch but need to be consistent.  :)

his positional play and calmness on the ball reminds me of Maldini at his best

with a few more games we would have conceded even less

Traore :D certainly a great contender for player of the season  :rasp

I hate these types of posts, as I think every player contributes just as much to the team as any other player in our squad. If I had to pick one it would be Gerrard simply for the fact that his drive, hunger, ambition to succeed and consistancy has helped everyone up their game by a considerable amount. It seems as tho when Gerrard is at his best it rubs off onto the rest of team.

I'm surprised that a certain player hasn't been mentioned once during this who, myself included, the jury was well and truly out on.

Peter Crouch.

this guy has offered so much to our play this season and has gone largely unoticed. He not only has scored a decent amount of goals so far this season, but has also contributed to our overall play immensely (look at the Everton game, for example - held the ball up brilliantly, brought other players into play, won us loads of free kicks when we needed it being a man down and skinned a couple of players too).

Last year, my vote was Steve Finnan as he was simply brilliant without anyone noticing. This year, to date, it's going to Crouch.  :buttrock
