He’ll never adapt to the physical side of the Premier League and will make absolutely no impact like all the other fancy foreign short ***** like Mata, Cazorla, Hazard, David Silva, Ben Arfa, Luis Garcia, Benayoun, Malbranque, etc.

Sky Sports Scout - Philippe Coutinho

We run the rule over Brazilian starlet Philippe Coutinho

By Sky Sports Scout.   Last Updated: January 21, 2011 1:24pm

Sky Sports Scout is our exciting feature where we scour the globe looking out for the best talent and bring you a report on what we find.

NAME: Philippe Coutinho AGE: 18 (12th June, 1992) BORN: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil POSITION: Midfielder CLUB: Inter Milan FACTS: Has already made his debut for Brazil Sky Sports Scout Ratings: 0-10 - No hoper 11-20 - Should look elsewhere 21-30 - Might not make it 31-40 - Has work to do 41-50 - Keep an eye on him 51-60 - Great prospect 61-70 - On his way to the top 71-80 - Already World-class.

The scout reports...

Philippe Coutinho is one of the latest footballing talents to emerge from Brazil and he is rated as among the best of his generation.

Coutinho has already been snapped up by one of Europe's elite as he is currently with Inter Milan.

Coutinho has long been tipped to be a star of the future since his early teens when he was quickly picked out by numerous scouts.

Blessed with wonderfully quick feet and majestic skill, Coutinho loves to cut inside from the flanks and if nothing else he is a crowd pleaser.

He is one of those players that when he picks up the ball, the crowd gets to their feet and is often not disappointed.

After witnessing his skills, Inter moved quickly to strike a £4million deal when he was just in 16, and as part of that they agreed to let him stay in Brazil for at least two seasons.

And Inter's decision to allow Coutinho to stay in South America to develop has proved a very astute one.

Coutinho emerged into a first-team regular in the season before his exit to Italy and it was his form for Vasco that persuaded Inter he was ready to make the switch.

He linked up with Inter last summer and was their only major signing, and not many expected him to see much action and indeed he was linked with a loan switch to other Italian clubs.

But Coutinho has not taken long to settle into life in Italy and is already a regular in the first-team.

He has found himself playing on the wing for Inter, which is no hardship as he loves taking on defenders, although he is perhaps guilty of one trick too often, which could be put down to youthful exuberance.

Many see Coutinho's long-term future in a Lionel Messi-type role as he is more than just a winger, given his excellent eye for a pass and vision to open up the opposition.

Coutinho's progress has also been rewarded with a call-up to the national side and in October he made his senior debut against Iran.

The scout says...

The footballing world is Coutinho's oyster, he already has the ammunition to get to the top.

Unfortunately, he will not be taking his place at the South American Youth Championship this month as he is injured.

The Scout rating...

Shooting: 7 out of 10

Passing: 9 out of 10

Tackling: 5 out of 10

Heading: 5 out of 10

Pace: 8 out of 10

Vision: 9 out of 10

Current ability: 8 out of 10

Potential ability: 10 out of 10

OVERALL SCOUT RATING: 61/80

Current value: £15million

Potential value: £50million :)

In terms of raw talent and god given ability Coutinho is streets ahead of the likes of Sterling and Suso. I’ve seen him play for Inter and Espanyol a few times and he can do things with the ball that will amaze you. But he can also be extremely frustrating when he takes one touch too many or makes the wrong decision. If his game matures he could be an amazing signing for £8.5 mil but if he doesn't he'll end up at decent mid table club in Spain or Italy.

Sounds like he had a great start of his career here. I might have to eat my words that I said about him before he arrived, which I would be happy to do, but I think I'll wait a few more games before I do. I'd also like to see how he copes with the tempo of the game.

You never notice how small a player is until he stands next to a prem defender. He would defenitely help the team against the passing teams but I would like to see how he copes against Everton or Stoke.

Or how will those Stoke and Everton defenders cope with his low centre of gravity, mobility and acceleration from a standing start?

it was a great debut from him and he took his goal well.
now i understand why rodgers has no problem with signing small players as i never realised he was that size himself till i seen him looking up at michael owen on MOTD last night
