ace and gbjh basically have summed up my impression of crouch and i feel those who feel he aint good enough for this club are full of sh!t.

So someone who doesn't agree with your view is "full of sh!t" You sir/madam are "full of sh!t", if someone said he is sh!t then I'd maybe agree, but he isn't good enough for THIS club by a long shot unless you have confused this club with one smaller

i think for a big guy his control of the ball and ability to score all kinds of goals even bicycle kicks are very good.

For a big guy, so we're making allowances. Well for a big guy his threat in the air is a joke, his ability to score all kinds of goals is good, but his ability to score lots of goals is well below par - hence why he is not good enough for LIVERPOOL

why dont u shove ur stats for once and tell me, in the CURRENT team, the CURRENT squad, who are the best we've got other then torres? voronin is rusty, kuyt isnt clinical. stats can only go so far. surely u watch the games and u would be able to see his contribution? crouch poses problems for defenders and if i was bothered to do so, i could find a few quotes.

Well , to be fair , crouch misses laods of chances , havant , barnsley are just a few games on top of my head , yes he has a good record against arsenal but apart from that he's and rafa's play a 4-2-3-1 formation with gerrard as a shadow striker so crouch is not going to get many games

Crouch is the ONLY player to have scored against United, Arsenal and Chelsea for Liverpool since Benitez took over. He was our top scorer in all competitions last year. Yes he misses chances, but at least he's there to miss them. Torres missed FIVE sitters in one game against Newcastle as well as two pretty simple chances against City but that doesn't seem to be mentioned.

Crouch isn't Torres, he isn't going to score 30 goals a season, but he'll certainly chip in with 15-20 (given the games) I think it was 19 last year and 10 this year. 10 this season considering he hasn't played a string of games together. I think two is his longest stretch of matches he's started this season. Coming off the bench for 10 minutes per game off the bench represents an appearance and another game gone where he hasn't scored to some, which is unfair. I said the same about Voronin against Arsenal in the first leg, where people slaughtered him when he had about 5 minutes to do anything. You can't expect players to instantly hit the ground running off the bench. Torres came off the bench against Arsenal and did all but again wasn't slated like Voronin was. Before people think I'm on a whitch hunt for Torres, I'm not, I love the fella to bits and think he's the best forward in the world right now, but if he misperforms then he must recieve criticism like the rest. Some fans think 30 goals a season, he's above criticism, well is he . It's a lot easier to forget his bad games because there haven't been many, but if you're going to complain about Crouch missing chances then the same has to be said about the entire squad, and if you're going to complain about Voronin doing nothing for 5 minutes after coming off the bench, then again the entire squad must live by that rule.

Hes our second best striker. Totally unique in football. Defenders are scared out of there wits when he plays. Gets his head down when he dosent play, works hard to fight his way into the team. When he does play he gives Rafa a dilemma of weather to play him next game. If he goes and Kuyt or Voronin stay, Rafa's got it wrong.

This shows what a complete idiot you are again , how many times has torres saved us this season and same for kuyt , Inter milan , where they both got the goals , everton for kuyt , Arsenal , kuyt again and i have lost count how many times for torres , yes torres missed 5 sitters but has 29 goals in 41 starts . Why don't u mention that ?? The only game this season where crouch has performed is Arsenal where he was superb prob the best man on the pitch and villa where he got the equalizer

I'm not sure this does show "what a complete idiot" John is "again" to be honest. He is talking about the fact that Crouch isn't the only one who misses chances, even Torres (who everyone to the best of my knowledge, certainly John included) thinks is a fantastic player, misses chances. All strikers miss chances, that is his point. Incidently on this this point at least, I agree with him.

I also agree with you on your point about Crouch not going to get many games if rafa plays 4-5-1, as clearly Torres is the better player. This whole idea though that somebody is an idiot if they don't agree with your particular analysis is something which hads become all too prevailant recently on the forum.

Since I firmly believe in the age old adage, "if you can't beat them, join them" I will join in the spirt of such outbursts myself. Anybody who says about any striker that they "have a good record against Arsenal but apart from that they are sh!t" has a limited knowledge of the game of association football. It's fine to not really rate Crouch, to not believe he is worthy of a starting berth in the team, but to state that he is sh!t is a bit daft, particularly when you accept he has a good record against Arsenal. 

Why people can't simply state their opinion but agree to differ I don't know.

As for Toffehater...do you forget Crouch saving us against Aston Villa where he came off the bench to score and grab us a point? Do you remember Crouch STARTING AND FINISHING the rout against Beskitas? Do you remember Crouch scoring against Luton to save us from embarrasment (still came about because of Riise's own goal)? Do you remember the amount of times Crouch has won headers to knock down to other players which has ensured a goal? I assume you probably don't.

Peter Crouch has 40 first team goals for the side in 133 games, making one in 3.3 games whereas Kuyt has 24 in 91, giving him a goal every 3.7 games. Yet you'd rather keep Kuyt. Fair enough, we won't win anything with Kuyt up front and won't be close to winning the league as we finished 21 points off the top last year...without Kuyt and just Crouch we finished nine off the top plus a FA Cup winners medal. Going well with Dirk aren't we.
