Congratulations to Peter Crouch on reaching 100 goalless appearances in a Liverpool shirt. "The reason he hasnt scored against these sides invariably is because he hasnt been selected."

And that's over 5000 minutes worth of appearances, compared to the 40 goals he has scored which account for under 2500 minutes worth of appearances.

And before anyone jumps on the monotonously boring and predictable case of saying he's better than Kuyt, Kuyt has 71 goalless appearances made up of nearly 5000 minutes himself. But then even if Kuyt were the "worst striker ever to wear a Liverpool shirt" which he isn't, what the fook has that got to do with how good Crouch is?!?!?!?

And yesterday we might as well have had ten or even nine men since neither striker really contributed, congratulations all those on here who called for the change which very nearly cost us. Crouch had a better second half, managed one shot on goal, a through ball and a few decent passes, but if that's good enough for Liverpool then it's no wonder we're way off the Premiership title pace

I thought he played quite well tbh.
No he didnt score and yes he is a striker so thats the main objective.
But in a massive game like that he was winning his headers, flicking on for Torres's goal and he held the ball up well enough.

I really dont get the way you knock him so much.

What also needs to be taken into consideration is his lack of games with the first team, yes he may have had chances this season, but not many in the actual first 11.

I dont think he deserves crticism for last nights performance at all.

He won a few headers that ended up with their defenders, lost possession easily, how did that help? He spends too much time in the midfield so we might as well play a midfielder, he and Torres got isolated. And I think he won ONE free kick all night, he did play well in respect I don't recall him conceding any. And as for the flick on, a) I am unconvinced it made any contact and b), if it did it was barely enough to make a difference to the direction of the ball which is just as well as it would have taken it away from Torres. If you're insinuating it was an assist, try again, Torres made that goal and you know it. As for holding the ball up, ballacks. He wasn't even in the game much in the first half, when he did keep the ball (rare) it was in such tight situations that either he or anyone he passed to lost it straight away. You're simply coming out with the usual and adding the one thing he MIGHT have contributed.

And when he scores apparently that's good enough, when he doesn't the importance is played down. If you read your own words I'm sure you'll see how it looks and is, twisting it to suit your defence of Crouch and you would even if he played and scored a hat-trick of own goals. In your eyes he can do no wrong, at best he was 5/10 last night and that's generous. He didn't do half the things you're making out he does or even did last night. Certainly not enough to justify his inclusion.

Funny how a "lack of games" is an excuse for him, didn't stop people wanting him picked in the first place...................

He was at best ordinary last night, contributed maybe a dozen positive passes, a through ball that resulted in nothing and one shot which was well created but poorly finished.

What I don't get is why you lot defend him so ardently, he did nothing worth praise and his contribution to the result was negligible. If anything we would have been better without him, but then that's the kind of claim you lot make in reverse.

By the way, and I do the same with Beckham for England, I tend to take more notice of Crouch than any other player because I don't believe all the things people reckon he does and the way to be sure is to watch the player closely. So while I was watching the game as a whole, I was making a mental note of Crouch's "contribution". I would have to be very biased in Crouch's favour to give much credit for what you lot do, and that's from watching closely. Not just that he gets a head on the ball or a flick on, but where it goes and how it ends.

And on the Beckham thing, I didn't rate Beckham and had similar defence of him to contend with, so when watching THE Greece game I counted his free-kicks and where they went. Eight shots, one on target and hit the target. The rest hit the wall, were off target or didn't reach the goal. It is a while back now, but I'm sure none of the other shots required a save. If one in eight is a world class free-kick taker, as Beckham was commonly accepted as at the time, then Crouch's three goals every ten games is a world class striker.

Am quite hung over and cant really be ersed disecting your posts various points.

But am not sure that you are listening to me.

I am not saying he is the answer if we want to win the league, i am not saying he should be starting for England either.
What i am saying is that when selected he hasnt let anyone down.
If Rafa goes out and signs a top forward in the summer then great, not a problem moving Crouch on.
But this season with the squad we have had Crouch should of started alot more games and behing Torres he is imo our second best striker.

We all know you dont think he is any good, its just the lengths you go to in criticising him that can be a little tiresome, especially as half of the time its ott and unwarranted.

Exactly, thats Crouch playing well. Can you imagine Rooney or Tevez playing like that?

The fact is, he done ok, but he didn't really influence the game with the exception of one flick  which  was magically converted by the best striker in the world.

well we've played 4-2-3-1 against Arsenal with Torres up front on his todd and drew.

We've played 4-4-2 against Arsenal with Crouch and Torres up front and won. So if winning isn't good enough for Liverpool Football Club, I don't know what is.

Behind Torres he is the best option (for now), thats all i am saying.

unfortunately i can't see him being here next season although i still think he's an excellent option to have in the squad.

I think Benitez knows exactly how good Crouch is, that's why he signed him in the first place and doesn't want to let Crouch go, this is why I think Crouch played last night, Benitez is trying to prove to Crouch that he does have a role to play at the club and wants him to sign the contract. Funny how Crouch refuses to sign, then he's playing the following 2 games back to back. I think this is another of Benitez' games, he doesn't want any other club having Crouch because of his quality, so he plays him from now until the end of the year, hoping to persuade Crouch into staying.

So someone who doesn't agree with your view is "full of sh!t" You sir/madam are "full of sh!t", if someone said he is sh!t then I'd maybe agree, but he isn't good enough for THIS club by a long shot unless you have confused this club with one smaller

For a big guy, so we're making allowances. Well for a big guy his threat in the air is a joke, his ability to score all kinds of goals is good, but his ability to score lots of goals is well below par - hence why he is not good enough for LIVERPOOL
