The general consensus is that they "peak" when they reach their thirties.
However, there are many fine goalies in their twenties. Casillas for Real has been in their goal since his teens.

Good to see that the level of respect for people on this board is nice & high. I'm a comedian on Monday nites m8. I live in a house but a time machine would be a nice place to live. 1980's here I come. At this moment in time Reina is better than Dudek, I agree but that's down to Reina playing more games than Dudek.

I'm not living in the past by any stretch of the human imagination. The way ppl talk about Reina when they compare him to Dudek is laughable. Too many ppl make out that the gulf between Dudek & Reina is wider than what it actually is, the way some of the ppl on here talk about Dudek you'd think he was a sunday league keeper and Reina is a keeper worth £33million banknotes.

I only said it because Effes said pepe is young for a goaly.. so i asked like how old are they usualy?.. as in what age group..

No problem.

I would say that most keepers tend to peak at about 28 and onwards, but obviously it is not always the case.

Also, just because some in young doesn’t mean that they will dramatically become better, some people peak earlier than others and most attributes are quiet easy to see after watching someone play a few times. Someone isn’t going o get better technically or physically just because he hasn’t reached his peak yet, players tend to improve their confidence and understanding of their game.

I do think some keepers go on too long though.......Jennings and Shilton for example i thought should have packed in at least 5 years earlier than they did.Instead of getting remembered as  greats they ran the risk of being very average to a new audience........

The gulf in talent is ENORMOUS, and there is also a 10 years difference....Very impressive indeed.
