Pellegrino

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby JC_81 » Thu Mar 17, 2005 12:11 pm

Although last night was a poor result, I thought the performance of Pelle at the back was pretty impressive.

His distribution of the ball from the back was superb and is something we have not had in a long time.  He was also very good at dealing with long, high balls (which sometimes trouble us)

If he can play like that more often then I'd keep him next season.

Just thought I'd start this thread to stick up for him, no one on here ever has anything good to say about him it seems (including myself at times!!)

Whilst I applaud both Pelle's display and your support for him, I have to say if you think his distribution was good, then you must have watched another game.

Pellegrino and Warnock where the silver linings to the cloud that was a clueless boring goaless draw.

Yea, it was his most solid game yet. Played a lot of long balls though.

Warnock has done well in his last 2 games - I hadn't seen a lot in him in his games earlier this season.

As already said there wasn't much else to get excited about - 1 shot on target and 1 point out of a possible 9. Wouldn't be surprised if we play out of our skins on Sunday though.

i have to say that a positive to take was that we kept a clean sheet

not exactly a world beater as far as positives go but at least its something :blues:

Warnock done alright i thought.

Pellegrino defended well but to say his distribution was good is nothing short insane. He didn't really have a midfielder to pass to i supose but his passing was woeful.

We had no variation or thought in midfiels at all and this just added to Pellegrinos poor distribution.

But he did look solid

i still think his distribution was better than either carragher or hyypia.

There wasn't much movement ahead of him but at least he tried to play it into the midfield.  Normally either hamann or gerrard has to come right back to take the ball of hyypia coz his distribution is so woeful

His distribution was shocking. Not even in Carragher or Hyypia's class.

In a similar league to Traore...

Well maybe not that bad.

I thought some of his long balls where a little hit and hope, but he passed well into midfield.

Good performance all round by him and Warnock.

Pelle didn't have much option for the majority of his hoofs last night as no-one offered. He did step up with the ball and commit a few of their midfielders on a few occasions last night. Something i would like to see us do more often. JC and Sami have the talent to bring the ball out from the back and launch our attacks  but not the confidence.

Oh for another Alan Hansen.......

I think Pellegrino did well.

he is a smart guy and a good lad with bags of medals and throphies in his closet. no coincidence. he moves well, he is comfortable on the ball and he reads the game better than all the other LFC players. He lacks pace. That is a fact. But I do believe he is much better than Hyypia at defending, positioning etc. AND he does not waste the ball like Hyypia does. I hope he did enough last night to keep his place in the team, and I hope our midfield and attack will do more against Everton. Our back 4 did well last night. Really well. Thumbs up for Warnock and Pelle in particular.
