Owen could be gone by the end of today

owen is on his way out....believe me...we can afford to live without owen and we still got all the best when xabi or shaun is shifting in our squad. owen's rumours was getting a real pain for me and i think we should swap him and morientes will be a favor for liverpool......

End of the career of liverpool isn't a bad sign for owen....

GOOD LUCK GALATICOS.

Alonso and Owen seem connected in more than one way.

I can't wait for Owen to leave and Liverpool getting a new player to replenish the squad.

It seems better that Owen leaves LFC when he sees no faith in LFC getting honours with him. It makes the team more disciplined when we have such players that does not play for the club leaving. There are many of the fans that hails Owen as a legend in Anfield, therefore it seems that it concerns many of us here.

I am not an Owen fan, but if he does go to Real, he may well be dissapointed in getting as many games as he did in LFC. Owen has to match his standards against the best in Ronaldo, Raul, Morientes; not an easy task IMO. If he leaves, I hope he makes his decision quickly. Just choose the club and leave the fees to LFC.

Mornin all....well I have just read all the posts and had a good think about it and I am surprising even myself by saying that I hope Michael does go. I mean we all love him, he has been great, but he really is a form player, he can't score if he is not on form and his injuries have been a constant worry....he has one year left on his contract and has never been a fully committed Liverpool player always stalling over signing new deals or whatever. The last 2 years have not seen him anywhere near his best, maybe it's the fitness issue or his lack of drive, he often looks disinterested on the pitch. I may sound harsh, but don't get me wrong, Owen has been great for the club, but I remember 3 years ago the talk was of Owen, van Nistlerooy and Henry being Europe's best....and they were, but now, if I'm honest I don't see Michael up there with those two anymore.
To me now is the time to cash in as we may never get another chance and to lose him for nothing would be just the worst...so if this weeks papers reveal tha Owen is off to the Bernabeau and Morientes is coming to Anfield carrying a briefcase with £10 mill in it then I for one will be happy.

that would be a good deal, however I still think Owen can do a great job for us, i was looking forward to the Cisse - Owen pairing scoring goals galore. If he goes I will be disappointed but if a good deal comes along like the one you mentioned it would be decent.

But say it did happen, then our strikeforce all lack premiership expereince and it may take a while for a partnership to form, Owen knows the premierhsip very well and is a proven goal scorer in it.

WTF are his advisers telling him? Look what a great career McManaman had with Real Madrid on the bench?

He must have rocks in his head if he thinks he will get a game ahead of Ronaldo.

Cant he see from Beckham what a difficult transition it is?

If he wants to go, fark him off for 20m & Morientes

With all due respect to his past services for the club,

Yes, I'll be happy if he leaves. His departure will mean good finances for new players and a fresh outlook on the team. Its been mentioned that he has not been at his best. What I want is his best that has been missing for 2 years. And his contribution to England in Euro did not leave me an impression that he is improving. And why must he wait for LFC to qualify the CL before he puts down his signature? I find that's an insult to the club and the manager which he places no confidence in.

Seriously speaking, I am still in doubts whether he actually leaves. For all the rumours and anticipation from rumoured clubs, it does not seem to be genuine at all. And the root of all the rumours has to come when he has yet to pen his new contract with LFC. All of us has just got to play his WAITING GAME. :sleepy:

fair enough, can you blame him for wanting Champions league footy?, he is a top class striker and wants to play at the highest level, and if he can't do that here then he has to look elsewhere, which is fair enough.

for the record I think Owen will stay now we have qualified, which is for the better IMO, he is still a very good stiker, he has scored neraly 20 goals in the league the past 2 seasons in an average team, while being injured for large periods.

show some respect lad, Owen is still a fantastic player and as I said above is within his right to look at his options if he feels LFC is not on track , which we are now largely due to the 2-0 victory last night.

I think he will stay now have qualified, and if you read Lee J's thread on the info he got from a source it seems to suggest this also.

I'll show him the same respect he shows the club. He's had the entire summer to sort this out. If he wanted to go, he should have done it well before a major champions league qualification and just days before the season kick-off

Must admit I agree...he has given superb service to us over the years and he is a talented player but Liverpool have made him the player he is today and paid him very very well for it yet he is always out for himself and doesn't seem to give a t*ss about the club. He stalled on his last contract a year or two ago and is doing the same now and might just up and go days before the season starts. He has always been the squeaky clean young England player and everyone loves him but I think he has developed an ego and it is to the detriment of Liverpool Football Club in my opinion. Adios Michael.

Doesn't mean the match with Gak , owen didn't play ... he going to leave . Maybe RB want to rest him for the next match which is the first match of the season. To win the first match is very important because it will help the team to grow in their confident . And if he's going ... 10m plus Eto ... it also a positive thing ... Eto has a same skill as owen but he is much younger than owen.

Thats the problem Golden Boy bieng left on the bench is an automatic talking point, It's like he is the chosen one and should always be first choice.

Not anymore if he goes it's probably cos he knows Rafa will not stand for favouratism in the squad like GH done.

Anyways Owen looked happy to me he was laughing and goin red most of the game, call me thick but i think we must alert the rozers.  ???

After weeks of just browsing the forum, this Owen rumour has inspired me to finally register. I rate Owen highly, even when so many fans said he was a has-been. However, I have to say that this Real deal isn't a bad thing. Owen needs an injection of confidence, something that playing for Real would give him (even over staying); Plus, we'd get some much needed cash and one f two superb strikers. Owen is quite difficukt to play with despite his brilliance so perhaps to advance we need to get a new partnership up front. I'm certain that Rafa knows what he's doing. I just hope he gets someone Englih so our identity isn't eroded (Penant for 3mil would be fine by me). Sorry for the long post.
