A lot of big players let Houllier down last year, they owe it to the fans and the new manager to get it right in the new season.

is it true what i heard about rafa only playing 1 striker?

if so, it's a terrible decision. why buy cisse if you have 2 good strikers
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.

Not many here knows how Owen compares to the other strikers NOW. Many just mention his past and thus makes him top5 and world class!

I hope Benitez picks our front two on performance and not for dated reputation.I want every player to earn the right to be play.

I know Beni will pick base on performance and form. So all the big names still have to fight for the right to play 1st 11. I like that idea.

The fact of the matter is Owen just offered pace, that is all he had to his game. he has not got that now, he very rarely runs at defenders anymore, he has become dare I say it 'predictable?'

Yes he will always get you goals perhaps 20 or so in all competitions, but does that constitute a world class player?. Nistelroy is in the same mould as Owen, in terms of the goals he gets, but I do think he is I hate to say it, the next level up, he will guarantee you 30 goals + per season.

This all remains to be seen.

Owen is guaranteed to be injured too.

Baros + Cisse to start, owen on stand by if they don't gel.

Breaks my red heart to say this but I think Owen could be the one to make way for the Baros/ Cisse front two. I worship the ground Owen plays on but unless he really springs into life quickly he's gonna find himself on the bench.

Maybe it's time to freshen up the team and let him go & buy a replacement.

the last couple of seasons have proved that strikers find it very difficult to play with michael. heskey was michael's ideal partner, but may as well not have been at the club for all he contributed over the last couple of seasons. cisse will be the answer in the long term.
