but is he any better, if Nemeth is worse than Wash then we really do have problems with our youth set up.

4 goals in 7 games - the stats speak for themselves and its glaring you in the face but convientently ignored by you as it disproves everything you say about him .

even if N'gog wasn't very good, and Nemeth wasn't very good, those are just 2 players, it would be quite a leap from Nemeth isn't up to standanrd to then writing off the rest of the players. We still have some other promising players that are contributing to the 1st team this season, and others that are on the brink.

Of course we had problems with our youth set up, THATS WHY RAFA REVAMPED THE SYSTEM THIS SUMMER!!!!!!!!

obviously a couple of months is no time at all to judge a youth system.   In 5 or 6 years time when we have 19 year old kids who have been brought up in the Barca-Scouse mixed style since they were 13, then we will be able to tell if the system is working.

Liverpool boss Benitez tells Eccleston, Pacheco to be ready

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has put his young players on notice.

The likes of Nathan Eccleston, Daniel Ayala, Martin Kelly and Jay Spearing have all turned out for the first-team this season - and the gaffer admits he'd have no qualms about dipping into the second string pool again in future.

"The Reserves are a very good team," he said. "We changed the staff and some players and we knew the first year could be difficult, but they are doing very well," he told liverpoolfc.tv.

"They are playing well, are well organised and know what they are doing.

"It means we can bring in some players and you have seen they can perform. The likes of Eccleston, Darby, Ayala and Pacheco - we know we can use these players and they will know what to do."

Nemeth considers AEK move - Reds striker would favour turning loan move into permanent switch

Krisztian Nemeth admits that he would seriously think about making his loan move to AEK Athens permanent. The Liverpool forward is on a season-long loan and after two seasons at Anfield without any first-team opportunities is considering his options.

Despite injury disrupting his time on Merseyside the 20-year-old is seemingly enjoying a change of fortune in Greece having scored three goals in seven league games. AEK have endured an inconsistent start to the season and currently sit sixth in the Greek Super League, 14 points off leaders Panathinaikos.

"The fans keep telling me that AEK is a great club," he said. "They're really impressive and certainly more enthusiastic than Liverpool's. What I experienced at the derby with Olympiakos (in which Nemeth scored) was something that I've never felt before.

"I really wondered what the fans would be able to do if we performed better in the league. I think that if Liverpool and AEK work something out, I'd be extremely thoughtful about staying in Athens permanently."

Nemeth added that just because AEK were struggling in the league would not put him off signing permanently. "It never crossed my mind to ask terminating my loan deal due to AEK's bad performance," he stated.

"Certainly, we should be better. I'm sure that we'll get better and along with the team, I'll improve myself too. I've fallen in love with Greece and AEK's fans."

Sounds like another youngster who is fed up with life at Anfield and looking for a way out. Wouldn’t be surprised if Pacheco was next.

Nemeth wasn't going to make it anyway.  He really only had a run of 5 months where he was hot in the reserves.  He gets injured a lot too.

Its a strange one his situation.

We have no strikers at the moment and he is out on loan.
Is his loan deal one of those where you cant recall the player when you like ?
Surely either him or Pacheco should be on the bench while we have nothing else ?
Sabre looks like a big lezzer

And what makes him any different to SG, Nando, Benayoun. Johnson etc. based on that ?

And the other thing: if Pacheco is doing well enough in the Reserves to warrant a call-up to the senior squad, why not Nemeth ?

because Pacheco is better.

I don't think we can recall Nemeth because I think his deal is tied in with bringing in Kyrgiakos

Nemeth is probably just saying that to please the AEK Fans to be honest, and Rafa wouldnt let him leave.

But if he is serious about leaving us to play in that league then he needs to have a bit of ambition...

Always thought Paul Anderson would make it & now looks good in a Forest shirt. Also thought Adam Hammill would be fantastic in a Liverpool shirt but the management didn't like his attitude toward the reserve set up after he made comments about the fact that the overseas players get all the attention. Steven Warnock is a quality player who we should've never sold. Houllier rarely gave the ressies a chance in the first team & if they had one bad game they never played again. Benitez seems to have the same opinion.

It's VERY difficult to guess who might come through. I was convinced a couple of seasons back that Astrit Adstravic (or however you spell it!) was gonna be a cracking player but it never happened and the lad is with Leicester now i believe.

he had size and talent, but there were lots of reports of him having some serious attitude problems, and mental strength is certainly something that is required to make it as a footballer at the highest level and is just something you can't see unless your in training and around the kids all the time.
