Our problem this season

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Personally I think that our problem this season has been that we haven't played as a unit, any team that wins things like Arsenal and the 2001 team need to play for each other and play with confidence but we just haven't clicked this year, apart from that we need a creative midfielder.

I just think that we have played too direct, we havent got the flowing style that we should have. When you look at our team we actualyl have a great attacking team and thats how we should be playing. Owen shouldn't have to be alone up front, we should have enough players to cover him. There is too muchpressure on Gerrard and Owen as no one else is trying to take away any of the limelight. I thinkw e have too many problems this season, we just need a major change eberywhere. We need a whole new approach to the game.

Not enough pace, not enough movement, lack of players who can pass the ball, lack of creativity, lack of a dead ball specialist the list goes on, but as i said three players and i seriously think we will challenge!!! Mexes, Van der Vaart and Cisse.

I am afraid it is houlliers negativity which has destroyed the players confidence badly.By the way we play he shows no faith in the defenders by getting the midfield to sit back so deep and help them out. That must make our defenders feel great and this from a muppet that tells the fans to keep the faith.By also playing players out of position constantly he is basically saying to them they are not good enough in their favoured position. With Hamann out of the team Gerrard was not allowed make any forward runs just in case he left the defence exposed and houllier has wasted his talents for way too long.I could say the same about so many other players and they must be so dejected seeing their careers and reputations going downhill but of course that is nothing to how depressing it is for the fans of this once mighty club. There is just never anything remotely resembling football when the team plays.Football is a simple game which is made consistently complicated by houlliers madness,if the team attacked and defended as a team and stopped giving the ball away at every opportunity and players were given the confidence to go out and express themselves the results would look after themselves. This would be too easy and houllier is always looking for new ways to confuse the players and trying to make himself look clever.Having won 13 out of 34 in the league is shocking and he has lost the fans and this fact seems lost on him.We the fans must make it crystal clear his time is up and boo him not the players otherwise he will drag this club further downhill.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Well I agree with U! He's just lost the touch!! We R no where near the form we were in 2001. We were invincible and we were capable of beating anyone! I just don't understand why does Liverpool still need him. Look at Chelsea and imagine if GH was there, I bet U Roman would have burried him alive with a russian made nuclear BOM! Do we have to till the end of the season for a change. I think the fans should use their power to provoke a change at Anfield. Probably one or two boycots will do the trick. I fear that we might still be hearing the same excuses from this manager cum calamity if he stays on next season. What do u guys think? ?????

I think we have a good team and even if we didn't get  any new players we can still challenge for honours. But we need a new guide for the team. In other words , u can't reca with worn out tyres coz that's suicide!! What do U guys think of Hector Cupper?

Its a fact in football that the manager carries the can for poor performance and position and whether we finish 4th or not the manager has to go. I've defended GH as a man of integrity and dignity who undeniably loves LFC and all it stands for . Which is about where i stand but I'm honest enough to KNOW the jobs too difficult for me , thats why i'm not in football management. He gave it a go and neatly died trying for which we should pay due respect but the spark and fire have gone and the performances and position have sadly followed. Even if we finish 4th we wil lgo down as this seasons MOST UNDERPERFORMING side, FACT !!!! :( Charlton , Brum , Fulham and Portsmouth have over achieved with what they have got in terms of finances and players.

I agree with all you guys, I'd love to see Van de Vart, Mexes and Cisse at Anfield next season cos they would make a difference in all the areas we lack.

Regards to Hector Cupper I'm not sure  ???

one word NEGETIVITY. we don't score enough goals it's as simple as that. forget all this b#ll#cks about having the most shots, it doesn't reflect our style of play. we're dreadful to watch. it's ok playing on the counter attack when you're away from home, but foolier has us doing it at home aswell. what summed it up for me was at half time against marseille in the first leg, houllier's second half instructions were to NOT CONCEDE. yeah never mind about scoring, just stick everyone on the goalline.
