I love our Pepe.  Such loyalty is hard to find in football these days.  Really hope that he becomes a captain one day.

Seriously though id give Pepe the arm band next season,

I prefer the captain to be CB or at worst in midfield, not a CF or GK at the extremeties of the formation.

Can't see the hierarchy taking the armband off Gerrard, he may well have a hissy fit and demand a transfer

I don't know about that, I just know it was a promise. Every player made a promise if Spain won the WC, and Reina's promise was to have a goatee for a while.

I think by the end of august he'll shave it too.

Right now Pepe Reina is more popular in Spain than King Juan Carlos

He's respected over here by pretty much everybody I should think. He is I would have thought widely accepted as the best goalkeeper in the league, absolutely no contest.

No but it makes a point about you not liking goalkeeping captains.

Oliver Kahn, Dino Zoff and Gianpiero Combi have all had relative success as well.
My point is that I don't think it makes a huge difference. I don't think it really matters where your skipper is if they are good enough.
