Hyppia's short precise passing, was from a player at the peak of his game ,his reading of the game was exceptional,he may be a yard slower but his experience is an invaluable asset (Legend )  :D

Hyypia was awesome for Finland again yesterday. Had the cigars out.

And Litmanen is still class at 38, even though he can't run :D

Bump.

4 goals conceded at SB and 3 goals at Anfield against Chelsea, all because of defencive errors. Our back four looks vulnrable against a player like Drogba's stature, which is a bit worrying. Skrtel is having a shocking second half season, he has been :censored:, not only he isn't winning balls in the air in set pieces, but his concentration is poor! Agger is a better defender, surely. However, I'm also worried that Agger might face other big strong and tall players like Drogba and he isn't that type of center back to deal with these type of players.

Hence, a center back for me is a top priority IMO. lets build from the back first then buy that creative player we have been searching for.

I think Agger is good enough but my concern lies when Carra retires. I like Martin Skrtel but I think he still has some way to go before he can even think about filling Carras boots. I think Raul Albiol would be a good option but id prefer someone more rugged.

The set pieces are not just defended by our centre backs, i belive skrtl and carra have a ace partnership! its a shame that agger sits on the bench the guy is also ace. Zonal marking how ever im unsure on this one, lets face it we rarely concede from corners and set pieces very rarely, it only gets mentioned when we do.

I'll tell you what we need:

Sami, 10 years younger. Because he is an absolute LEGEND, and the best defender to grace the Premiership over the last 10 years in my opinion.

Sami Hyypia to reject Liverpool coaching staff offer

By Simon Mullock 26/04/2009

Sami Hyypia is set to reject the chance to join Liverpool's coaching staff so that he can prolong his playing career. The Finland defender has been in talks about a new oneyear contract that would also include the option of joining Rafa Benitez's back-room team.

But Hyypia feels he can continue playing as he nears his 36th birthday and is ready to quit Anfield after 10 years because he feels his playing opportunities under Benitez will become limited.

Hyypia, who joined from Dutch club Willem II for£ 2. 5m in May 1999, feels he still has plenty to offer at the top level.

Benitez managed to persuade him to reject January moves to Newcastle, Fulham and Stoke.

does anyone else think Rafa has missed a trick this year as far as Sami goes? He's been criminally under-used in my opinion and it would not surprise me if he finishes his career playing a full season for the likes of Fulham (see above) next season. Based on performances he's been our best CB this year for me, Jamie has been solid but not quite the standout of some previous seasons and neither Skrtel or Agger has really convinced me. We're all worried about losing Agger next season but I'd rather he went than losing Sami prematurely.
