Your last bit about needing someone who can unlock tight defences was one of the main reasons i wanted to see someone like silva or arshavin into the team , someone of the ability to just slide that little ball in for torres to pounce onto or keane or whoever is up there .

The "unlocking tight defences" bit is something I see Keane assisting with - he's quite tricky and clever in his play, and I can see him being the type of player who can provide that.

I noticed it early on, during the Villa game, with chances at a premium when he picked the ball up, ghosted past a defender into the box, drawing another towards him before flicking it inside to Torres, who pulled his shot wide.

Good post.

why mention richards when he is a cb and will be a cb for rest of his career . He has filled in at right back for city and england but his crossing and attacking his the best but as a cb he is pretty much got the lot and will be an outstanding player but not at rb . Its players like rafinha we might look at or see what degen does .

He is a natural right back too, richards.

not so much natural as opposed to very good there but nowhere near as good as he is in the centre - he started right back to ease him in now he is a cb and always will be .and he will be at arsenal if city dont win things.

He's not a natural central defender for me. Lacks positional sense and doesnt seem to read attacking situations very well. His pace gets him out of the sh!t more often than not

The West Ham Academy coaches, and honest 'Arry might disagree. He looks very natural there and has done since a teen

I think Campbell might be a better comparison. Similar physical attributes and ended up a central defender after playing all over the place
