OGGY BACKS KIRKLAND TO REGAIN TOP FORM
Mark Platt 10 June 2005

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic is backing Chris Kirkland to regain the form that once saw him tipped to be a future England number one.
The highly-rated 24-year old stopper has been plagued by injury ever since joining the Reds from Coventry in August 2001 and he hasn't figured in Rafa Benitez's first team since December due to a back problem.

But Ogrizovic, his former mentor at Highfield Road, is confident that the under-21 international can battle back from the injury setbacks of the past few years and fulfil his immense potential.

"The last few years have hardly been ideal for Chris but he has stayed strong. All he needs is a season of first team football to prove to everyone once more just what he is capable of," says big Oggy.

"I've no doubt that he can get right back to the top. I have no doubt that Chris will play for England again. He is still only 24. Keepers can go on for a long time. He has a long career ahead of him."
