Someone said oh lets buy Ronaldino yer ok  :O , just cause the Valencia players played great in Spain doesnt mean they will in the prem, talk about realistic signings like Michael ballack coming in to replace him, not world class super stars costing 30 40 million pound each.

CGGY, read my post on page 3 of this thread, second one down.......at last, someone agrees with me on Ballack!!! I've been mentioning him as a replacement - as I said "i'd funking love im" if he signed for us!!!!  :buttrock

Feeney mate, he is ready to leave BM he has one year left on his contract how much would he come to us for? 10-15 million? I am sure he would jump at the chance to sign for us, and we would have one fantastic player a great fighter, ok he gets moody but didnt Stevie, I would love him to come, and I am sure rafa is aware that he's made himself available for a transfer.

Yea Ballack is leaving and he sure would love to play for us.  Also, we can get a couple of players (or just cold hard cash) for stevie(walter samuel has been talked about as a part of the deal from madrid).  Stevie's almost out the door so I gotta change my sig.

come on man. if it werent for gerrard i'd say we would have finished a lot lower than 5th place in the premiership. i saw those opta stats also, and they dont sway me one bit. gerrard won many games for us last season.. watford twice, the derby, the spectacular shot to draw against boro, etc. plus all the champs league games. we could NOT have won the champs leauge without him. when the team starts to lag behind he grabs them by the balls and throws them back into the game. there are lots of reasons why those numbers could be that way.. who else was in the squad when stevie was here and gone?? were the games home and away, and to who? stevie is the best midfielder in the world and i would be :censored: if he left. we shouldnt give up our captain so easily or because of some stupid reason 'well we didnt sign him right away so he is a bit on edge' :censored:. it would be an interesting next season if he wasnt here , and ill be damned if some feckin zenden character is gonna lead us to glory. we havent even signed any BIG names yet and if he left i think we would fall apart. :veryangry

Yes he was good in Europe at times but we won some major games without him to.

Without the 3 points against Deportivo we would have been in the UEFA cup. We done it without him.

The second leg against Bayer Leverkussen was won without SG

As was the away leg against Juventus.

Tell you what CGGY, to me, if Real give us £20M plus Samuel, I wouldn't be @rsed if we paid the full £20M for Ballack - Gerrard for Samuel AND Ballack? FUNKING GREAT BIT OF BUSINESS!!! instant replacement for Gerrard and quality replacement for Sami!

As much as i'm a bit pi$$ed off,i'm excited at the posibilities as well - my minds been running at 100 mph all day thinking about possible targets! We were in the same boat this time last year with Mikey Owen, and look what we achieved? I've said it to everyone that has been frustrated at the apparent lack of transfers before today - just keep the faith in Rafa!  :bowdown

Ballack would make an ideal replacment. Hes quite similar to SG in many ways. His style of playing. And he can crack some good shot to. How old is Mikel Ballack

samuel was quality at roma but not to impressed with his performance at Real. Just read on SkySports that Real seems not to be interested in Gerrard.

LIVERPOOL - FALL APART??  dont make me laugh, ok there have been lean times like the nineties, but we still had great players, just no REAL trophies.

Im sorry but LFC is TOO BIG to fall apart, especially just because of one player.

Ok, think about this, say he stays, but gets injured for the WHOLE season, worse than CISSE, no miracle comeback, would we still fall apart!!!  I dont think so!
And actually Gerrard didnt get us Fifth, the team did, the fact of the matter is if he had a bit less attitude and turned up and played to half of his ability in more games, then we would have cruised to fourth. So you could argue it is HIS fault we didnt come fourth, in the same way that you argue he got us fifth. But personally its not really about apportioning (sp?) blame to a single player, when looking at the whole season, as opposed to blaming a player in a single game, such as Djimi at Burnley.

Stats dont lie, just as the table doesnt lie.
I have seen many people disregard these stats, but i think they just dont want to beleive them, I bet the stats for wins WITH Alonso playing, are the oppsite to the Gerrard stats.
If anyone knows this for sure, please enlighten me...

He's 28 so I dont think he is worth 20 million maybe 10-15 million euros?

Talk sport on now about Stevie, theyve just said Johnathan Woodgate has said this afternoon that Gerrard will be a Madrid player by next week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/index.shtml?logo

LIVERPOOLANYTIME wrote:I saw this bloody situation coming, its sad to say but I knew something wasn't right.

EVERYTIME i watch the CL footage at home (please watch it to evaluate yourself too!!!) and just before SG picked up the cup and even when receiving his medal he didnt seem happy. Only when he kisses the cup does he begin to smile a bit.
Look dont get me wrong, i have tried to look at it in many different lights, such as:

*Maybe he was still in shock after such a comeback

*He has matured and is doing his captains role (i say this because just after he receives his medal he's sorta looking around for Rafa(i think!) and the coaching staff, sorta making sure everyone gets their medal and is in place etc;).

*IS IT JUST ME (this was the light i wanted to look at it from, as it left the oppurtunity for him to stay).

But the more and more i watch the footage the more i see the following:

*Poor body language from SG, FFS this is your greatest acheivement (to put this in perspective, look at the faces of EVERY player that is up their {even more so the guys that DIDNT play eg; Josemi} to receive their medal, SG (along wid Carra) should be the MOST happy person there, he is Liverpool born and bred, the CAPTAIN of his boyhood heroes, The catalyst for the comeback, HE SAID he wanted to win trophies and now is seconds from lifting the BIG ONE, but does he smile NO, does he look happy NO. So ok he cheers and seems happy as he lifts it, but c'mon you'd have to be in yer death bed to not have some emotion of course!!

*The unhappy look before he kisses the trophy seems to me to be like - 'For F.ucks Sake, I have only gone and won the f.ucking cup, thats effed up my plans......Ooohh what am i gonna do, oh s.hit i better give this cup a kiss and keep up the pretense'

*The way he runs off with the cup and the look he has on his face, this like stern face that says to me - I AM THE MAN!!  Is it me or does he hold onto the cup JUST a little bit too long, I mean it is a team game!  And why the hell did he get to SLEEP with the cup, I bet everyone thought 'yea let him sleep with it, keep him happy and he will stay'.....Im sorry but :censored: that YES he was the catalyst for the comeback but HE DIDNT do it all himself, there were many factors, just that he was probably the BIGGEST.

*Same poor body language on the parade, just seemed unhappy...WHY???  I just dont understand!!

I really am tired of it all now, He was offered contracts at three seperate times through the season and he says 'WAIT', who the hell is he to say that, and now expect the club to JUMP when HE says jump and also how high...P.iss off.

I want players that want to be here, if not then just GO, dont try and hold this great club to ransom, like many have already said in this thread, we have lost great players (or liked players, in the case of owen!!  :p ) in the past and moved on, it is not a problem, especially if there is a big windfall of money in exchange.

I have said it in many a post before, that although Gerrard is A TOP CLASS player, he has some sort of attitude problem, a big-time charlie if you like, and ever since his season of 03/04, he has begun to beleive his own hype - thus had a poor Euro 2004, considered leaving, tells us to wait, plays poor except for maybe five full games (in playing time that is, because he didnt DOMINATE any ONE game this season for the WHOLE game), says 'the balls in Liverpools court', he is just taking us for fools, the club and fans.

It has to stop, this is NOT the way LFC is run, we do not adhere to DEMANDS from anybody (taxman may be an exception though  :D ), its like SG is the wife beater and LFC is the stupid wife who keeps going back for more and never learning her lesson.

Alonso is more of a key player to Liverpool than SG, I dont care what anyone says, he has it all (as does SG), but his brain and maturity (for someone younger than SG) are unbeleivable and will get better, MUCH better. I know we will lose that hometown spirit that SG brings, but CARRA has enough for ten men. Im sure that everybody would take a few PL titles and lets say another CL win, as long as the quality is there to do it, we would ALL be happy, it is about WINNING, not about hometown players (Though i know the fans need to be able to 'relate' to their team, but that is a whole new topic!! so I'll keep it to SG for now).

SG a great player - yes, SG a great man - not too sure anymore  :(

i dont agree with that.. obviously you havent seen the drunken photos of stevie, carra, etc  now thats what I call body language im sure he was just trying to act professional in istanbul so he doesnt get ripped on, on tv and the papers. everyone already knows of his love for liverpool anyways.

Obviously I HAVE seen the photos actually, less presumptions please!!

The key word you use is DRUNK, drink plays with the senses, have you never been down and thought let me have a drink (if you are old enuff that is? Not taking the p.iss btw!)

And everybody knows of his love of the club, well im sure MOST are really beginning to question tat now, if he really loved the club he would come out and say 'I LOVE THIS CLUB, I AM SIGNING' end of...until he does that i'm sorry but this will now be questioned.

It's pathetic that people are obsessed with looking for "big names" all the time.
Big Names guarantee nothing but team players give you a chance. Stevie is a great player who at times gave a lot less than 100% last year. He'd made his mind up to leave last year and a last minute change of heart didn't make him a solid red again. It was no different to catching your missus playing away from home - you may get back together but it's never the same.

Ballack is 28.

I think if stevie really loves the team wants us to well, then he will either sign or leave RIGHT NOW!!

There are guys like ballack, aimar, joaquin out there and teams like manscum are making offers.  Stevie's gotta make up his mind.  If he waits until late July or something, then we could be screwed.  Because Rafa is spanish and knows the La Liga so well, players from spain would love to play for us (i.e. torres, aimar).  If stevie goes to chelsea, duff has to be a part of the equation.  If he goes to madrid, juanfran, samuel, or even owen has to come to us.  If rafa doesn't like the players they offer us, then ask for 30+ mil.  We gotta do this now so new players can get settled in and our team will have good chemistry.  Zenden, reina, gonzalez, and barragan are all signed.  Rafa said more signings are on their way, but if stevie leaves, then the situation will be complicated.

Im afraid guys like ballack will be snapped up by stupid teams like man scum:angry:
