OFFICIAL: KUYT SIGNS

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Poor bar codes!

Long term target, Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt, has gone to Liverpool for a reported £11m, when all Shepherd was prepared to put up was £5m. Which must have left poor Roeder rather embarrassed.

Officially it comes down to the price of the player, but was Roeder totally satisfied with what he saw? If he was going to make a move, it had to be straight after the World Cup, because the Dutchman had a poor competition and his price was at rock bottom.

Since then his form has improved, but as Roeder became more impressed by what he saw, the price went through the roof. Liverpool, too, weren't too keen back in June when he was struggling to find form in Germany. And even last week, they seemed well short of 100% commitment to the deal. As for Fat Fred and Roeder, there was even talk that Kuyt was coming back to Tyneside on United's private plane - and some television stations planned to be at Newcastle airport when it landed just before midnight.

But this was never going to be the case, as Liverpool finally made a move and Kuyt insisted Liverpool was his dream move.

Liverpool have taken a risk on him, but with four class strikers already at the club, it is a risk they can afford. Unlike Newcastle, who don't have the financial clout of the Scousers, and the next man they bring in MUST be worth the money.

Is Kuyt worth the money? Who knows. But I'll tell you one thing ... Craig Bellamy is the bargain of the close-season. Mark my words!

At last, signed and sealed.  Good signing for us and am certain he'll link up well with the other forwards.

So, just see Liverpool FC rise to the very top.  :)

Hi lads,

As a Feyenoord fan, I'm having a terrible day. Therefor my congratulations go out to all of you, with signing Dirk Kuyt (pronounce it as "Koit" where the o actually is an "a" when you say "Dirk Kuyt just scored a beautifull goal at Anfield road").

To all of you: Dont get you're hopes up for the first game he plays. He wont be as good as he can. At Feyenoord he had to have time to settle down too. And he did great, as he managed to steal every Feyenoord supporter heart and he didnt break it once (okay.. the dancing in the national team with players like Sneijder and van der Vaart was bad, but thats his thing). He also did great because he didnt have any great striker who he could learn of, he did it all on his own behalf. He scored great goals, in great matches, cheered with the fans, cry'd with the fans, hoped for prices with the fans. He IS a Feyenoord fan.

I hope for you guys he can do the same for you. Really, its hard for me to see him play at Anfield, but thank god its Liverpool.

By the way.. Now I need to get some tickets for a game at Anfield.. never went to an english game before, so can anyone e-mail, or private message me with some tips to get tickets for a Liverpool game at Anfield? Would be greatly appreciated by me, so I can come and cheer for Dirk when he scores a goal for Liverpool.

Have fun with Dirk guys, and take care of 'm for us Feyenoord fans.

I am on the verge of signing a six-year deal with "Cathay Pacific" for the naming rights to my posts.
