Nunez - Not doing so well

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby kazza » Thu Sep 23, 2004 11:00 am

Antonio Nunez will undergo exploratory keyhole surgery today after suffering a setback in his bid to recover from a knee injury.
The Spanish star partially tore the medial ligament in his left knee in only his second training session with the Reds last month and was initially told he'd be out of action for four weeks.

But the former Real Madrid winger suffered a setback in his rehabilitation ten days ago and, with the injury showing no signs of settling down, the Reds have decided on keyhole surgery to get to the root of the problem.

"We'll have a much better idea how long Antonio will be out for when he has had exploratory keyhole surgery later today," said club spokesman Ian Cotton.

Not if he meant that legendary phrase' mackens smells '
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Another setback and we always seem to get them. Had high hopes to for Nunez coming in soon because maybe he could have been a revelation like the other new boys. Finnan's done a great job this season on the right but we are still lacking there.

Antonio Nunez has been dealt another major injury blow with the news that he faces another six weeks out of action.
The Spanish midfielder underwent keyhole surgery today after failing to recover from a knee injury and the Reds' medical staff have now announced he faces another frustrating spell on the sidelines.

Club spokesman Ian Cotton said: "Antonio had the operation earlier today and we're pleased to say it was a complete success. He will be out for another six weeks."

Nunez sustained the initial injury in only his second training session with his new club last month when he partially tore the medial ligament in his left knee.
