Postby Matt*Lfc » Fri Aug 27, 2004 7:26 pm

Does anyone know if he is any good coz I have been seeing ppl post here saying when we have garcia gerrard alonso and nunez we will have a great midfield .....but before the owen transfer no one seemed to know who he was and now he is like world class!

Just wondered if anyone has seen him play or knows of a reliable source that knows how good he is ?

Murphy should have stayed, good squad player will fight for his place if guarenteed a few games and we can roll him at Old Trafford each year. Josemi looks class, and the way Aldridge and Toshack have been going on about Garcia and Alonso you have to think that Rafa may be pretty handy in the transfer market so fingers crossed that Nunez is of the same calibre. Time to trust the manager time. His injury could be a blessing it means that Harry has a month to sort himself out on the pitch.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

Apparently Murphy was a bit gobby !! Management were not too keen on his dressing room politics.

Yeah I heard he wanted an English manager but he was also told he wouldnt be a first choice but at the end of the day who is. Im sure if he was guarenteed a few games he would have stayed tho, perhaps it was just a bust up.

The deal I heard, was that he thought he was better than he actually was and didn't mind who he told. He also thought that because he was matey with Owen that he was impregnable. Houllier was sympathetic, but Rafa takes no sh1t. ???

Thats a shame that Im really quite surprised, but who allowed this clique to develop, GH must have known what was going on. It did look like the club was in a bigger mess than we all thought when Rafa took over. Its bloody refreshing though. As GH would put it 'I feel we have turned the corner now' too right GH too bloody right.

Ive seen one goal he scored for Madrid which was alright, however he was well thought of there and was expeted to eventually be Figos replacment.

12 - Antonio Nunez
Club: Liverpool

Shirt Number: 12

Position: Midfielder

Date of Birth: January 15, 1979

Birthplace: Madrid, Spain

Height: NA

Weight: NA

Profile

Antonio Nunez joined Liverpool in August 2004 as part of the deal which saw Michael Owen join Real Madrid.
Nunez, who made 11 first-team appearances for Real in 2003/04, signed a three-year contract at Anfield.

The right-sided midfielder came through the ranks at the Bernabeu but was unable to force his way into the first team on a regular basis.

He actually began his career with San Federico before joining CD La Rozas. He was picked up by Real in 2001 and enjoyed a good run of form in their 'B' team before progressing to join the first team for 2003/04.

Nunez scored on his debut for Real after coming on as a sub against Villarreal, bagging the equaliser in a 1-1 draw in September 2003.

Nunez has pace and skill but has never shown anything to suggest he can become a real star of the game.

But an injury picked up in his first training session ruled him out of the game for weeks.

In a team that boasts Beckham, Figo, Zidane and Juanfran who can all play on the right, it was always going to be hard for him to force his way into the team. He looks strong and has good, powerful header. A quick turn of speed gives him the ability to use his strength in new areas and barge past defenders. His cross is not yet fine tuned and his positioning leaves a little to be desired but in time, if he can master these, he will become a valuable member of the team and a star in the future.
