Nunez has officially signed

From lfc.tv

Liverpool have completed the signing of Antonio Nunez from Real Madrid on a three year contract.
The 25 year old right sided midfielder trained with his new team-mates at Melwood today after passing a medical.

Nunez, who made 10 appearances for Real Madrid last season, has signed in at Anfield as part of the deal which took Michael Owen in the opposite direction last week.

He has been allocated squad number 12 and could be in line to make his debut this weekend against Manchester City.

Nunez started his football career with Spanish outfit San Federico before joining nearby third division side CD La Rozas.

In 2001 he was spotted by Real Madrid - the team he idolised as a boy - and scored twice in 24 reserve games in his first season with the Spanish giants.

The following season he struck nine more goals for the reserves before finally earning a place in the first team squad for the 2003-04 campaign.

He made a dream start for Madrid as he netted an equaliser on his debut to secure a 1-1 draw with Villareal in September 2003.

Nunez becomes Rafael Benitez's second signing since taking over as Liverpool manager following the arrival of Josemi last month.

Let's hope Rafa has spotted some talent. I have absolutely no idea what he's going to be like. Like everyone else I had never heard of him before last week. Josemi has started brilliantly so hopefully he's set a marker for the rest of them.

Wish him all the best, got to have faith in the boss so hope he does well

Out of curiousity though what would have happened if he had failed the medical with Owen Transfer

19 year old JuanFran was seen as Figo's long term replacement, not Nunez.

Benitez claims he was tracking Nunez in any event but I think he would have preferred JuanFran.

Little is known of Nunez, given his lack of first team opportunities at Real.

???

But Nunez is a complete mystery? He has scarsely played a dozen games in three years for Madrid.

Still wouldnt mind seeing us go in for a few more players

which is why he should start so we can see what he's really made of. from what i understand he's supposed to be a mcmanaman type player.

the fact that he was at madrid at all means he must have some degree of ability. it wasn't his fault that he had the likes of figo and beckham ahead of him. this may be the fresh challenge he needs in his career.
