REDS CONFIRM NEW LFC STADIUM DELAY
Liverpoolfc.tv 29 August 2008

Liverpool Football Club have today confirmed that the building of their new stadium will be subject to delay.   A spokesman for the club said: "Our commitment to building a new world class LFC stadium is undiminished. Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such work on the project will be delayed in the short term. We will use this period productively and revisit the plans for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats."

What the F#ck?

We can't afford to build this 60,000 stadium now, but don't worry, we'll make it up to you in a year and build a 73,000 one".

Absolute b#llocks.

Statement from the CRIMSON PIRATE AND SOS. This is the fella that broke the original news on RAOTL yesterday morning.

The SOS is doing all it can to provide a focus for dissent and protest against G&H and their pathetic tenure at the club.

The SOS can do this more effectively with the resources and mandate that YOUR memberships provide.

So - don't dither - join today! We're doing all we can to expose the lies coming from the club (their press release today is little more than a spun rewording of the original leak on RAOTL (ie) credit crunch ..blah blah .. plans on hold ... blah). We are working constantly with the press to ensure this doesn't go away, and that G&H are forced into an untenable position.

So, please, if you care about the future of the club, visit the SOS website, take a look at who we are, what we want to try and achieve - and if you are in agreement then please support us. It's not good saying that we are doing a good job and then sitting back. A Union will only work as long as it has the strength of its membership behind it. Don't leave it to somebody else - your union NEEDS YOU!

LOL

Told ya.

Manhattan doesn't believe a new Liverpool stadium will ever be built. It's a choice between a stadium with Everscum, or a redeveloped Anfield.

It does seem odd that Moores handed over the club to these guys without any kind of concrete promises that they would deliver a significant transfer budget every season and a new stadium. In the absence of anything solid, one can only deduce that they offered him more money in the initial deal and nothing else.

Without a stadium, these guys are history. I expect LFC to be sold to DIC eventually.

Another massive blow to Liverpool FC new stadium hopes
Aug 29 2008 by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo

1 2 next »

LIVERPOOL Football Club today announced a major delay in its plans for a new stadium in Stanley Park.

The ECHO understands it will be another year before construction will start.

Club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett had hired London based PR firm Freuds to make a formal announcement confirming the delay on September 1.

But with speculation surfacing over the past 24 hours they have been forced to admit the Reds’ stadium dreams have suffered another massive blow.

Basic preparatory work began in Stanley Park several weeks ago, but fears that construction would not get under way this year because Hicks and Gillett do not have the necessary finance in place have now been realised.

The club released a statement to the ECHO today saying the delay had been caused by “global market conditions” and insisting that their commitment is “undiminished”.

But this does not wash with fans groups who believe it is just another sign that Hicks and Gillett are not the men to take Liverpool forward.

It is now 18 months since Gillett declared that work would start within 60 days.

Spirit of Shankly spokesman Jay McKenna said: “SOS has been expecting this news for over a week.

“It is our firm belief that the owners have neither the resources nor the intention to deliver this project, and are using the current economic climate as a subterfuge while they attempt to drive the potential sale value of the football club up.

“As SOS has maintained throughout this debacle, the owners have no money, no credibility and no dignity, and are not fit custodians of the club.

“We demand their immediate resignation and the sale of the club to fit and proper owners.”

City sources have told the ECHO that Hicks and Gillett have been in talks with the Royal Bank of Scotland in a bid to borrow around £300m to build the stadium.

But the duo baulked at the proposed deal when informed they would need to provide £200m in equity to fund such a massive loan

In April, Hicks staged a TV press interview, saying the credit crunch would have no effect on the stadium plans, a line he stuck to the month after the collapse

Then, when plans to build a Glorypark development in Arlington, Dallas, were abandoned the following month because of the credit crunch, Hicks again denied there was any possibility market conditions would force any delay to Liverpool’s Stanley Park project.

But the club have now admitted they have no choice but to delay the plans with a revised completion date in time for the 2012/13 season.

During the delay, they say they will be revisiting the plans again in a bid to ensure that if and when the stadium finally does open it will have a capacity of 73,000 rather than the 60,000 capacity it currently has planning permission for.

The club statement said: “Our commitment to building a new world class Liverpool Football Club stadium is undiminished.

“Like many other major development projects in the UK and overseas we are affected by global market conditions and as such work on the project will be delayed in the short term.

“We will use this period productively and revisit the plans for the stadium to increase its capacity to 73,000 seats.”

This news is less a suprise than Everscum being turned down by every player in Europe this Summer.

I work in finance and its even worse that reported so there is more to Tom Hicks hanging onto this club than meets the eye!!

This is a complete and utter sham from start to finish and Rick Parry & David Moores should hang their heads in shame!!.

If RBS has asked them to put up surety of 200m from their own assets then thats going to be standard wherever they go unless they get really stung with even higher interest payments by another financial institution and that seriously could happen.

Another dark day for L.F.C

you do have to wonder why these guys  are still so keen to hang onto liverpool, when its doing their reputation no good.

the annoying thing is toms hicks has the sort of immature character that he would rather see himself and liverpool go up in flames than admit defeat to DIC.he reminds me of the lunatic who jumped of the balcony with his kids to spite the mother. if you combine this with the curious way liverpool is playing despite having a good pre season,i wonder if this will make the players even more sloppy. all a bit convenient that in the year manu are trying to equalize our record, these things are happening.

So we are now back to square one with owners that cannot afford to build the stadium. Moores sold up to these people for exactly that reason and yet we find ourselves in the exact same position with this lot.

All this talk of building in the future is garbage because if they cannot raise the cash now theres little chance of them managing it in the future. To my mind its game over with these two on the stadium now.

Now it seems our only way out is as before and thats to sell to people that can raise the cash to build this god damned football ground. The only reason these owners may stick around is to hike up the price before selling, but meantime they have the hassle of funding debts and transfers which doesnt seem to me like their style. Lets face it they where never in it for the love and now the stadium project appears all but dead their time is wasted in Liverpool.

So close to a DIC deal and yet Moores and Parry ditch it all last minute in favour of the Americans offer. If only we could turn back the clock because what a mother of all decisions that was for Liverpool Football Club.

Mr Moores i hope your enjoying all that extra money you made selling us out to these two fooking conmen, what where you thinking off man, your meant to be one of us and you didnt even bother your :censored: to get these two c***s checked out first, you and parry shouldnt be within a mile of this great club, but dont worry because we the fans who have the clubs best interest at heart will keep fighting on till these two t**** are gone, i guess all we can hope for is that somewhere in the background (where you like to remain) you might be trying to do the same.
