Next season's ideal eleven - What would be your realistic 11?

Nice team but I don't think Quaresma is a Rafa type player, Montolivo or Arshavin would be better in my opinion.

possible signings (from england) to bolster the squad

GK - Hennersey (wolves)
RB - Richards (man city)
CB - Taylor (newcastle)
CB - Wheater (boro)
LB - Lescott (everton)
RM - Bentley (blackburn)
CM - Barry (villa)
CM - Surman (southampton)
LM - Young (villa)
CF - Agbonglahor (villa)
CF - Ebanks-Blake (wolves)

Now I'm not saying that these should be first on the shortlist, but a lot of them would bolster the squad especially if we have a huge clear out which I'm expecting. Barry and Surman aren't really required as our central midfield is as strong as anything in the world. Lescott may be a little unrealistic but I think he'd be a great signing for us, he has just scored as well against Birmingham.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Richards, Lescott and Bentley are three players that would suit us fine from the EPL.

When were we interested in him?  He looks good though, but where the hell did he come from?  It seems like this guy just popped up out of nowhere.

as I've said, if you took the care to read properly..."I'm not saying these should be FIRST on the shortlist" they are merely suggestions for squad players. Who would you rather have coming in at full backs...Finnan and Riise who are probably past their best or Richards and Lescott who 1) have their best ahead of them and 2) probably the next two full backs for England. Bentley or Pennant eh bob? Young or Benayoun? Ebanks-Blake or Voronin?

If I was saying lets sign Matt Oakley and Iain Hume in place of Gerrard and Torres then you may have a point. As I'm simply throwing out names who I know have talent and would bolster the squad with better ability than what we already have, I don't see what you're trying to prove.

But in answer to your ridiculous question, yes I want to win the league, but have we done so with this current side? NO. Have we looked like we could with this current side? NO. Have we came close with this current side? NO. So why not take a gamble on a couple of lads who've proven they can perform at this level. Just because they're not highly paid premadonas doesn't mean they have no ability.

Hennasey---8 consecutive clean sheets...most in lower league history.
Richards---nominated for young player of the year as well as earning a handful of England caps already.
Taylor---captained England U-21s.
Wheater---first full season in the top flight and has been so impressive, Middlesbrough were able to sell Woodgate, a man who's a full international.
Lescot---highest scoring left back in the land this season. Our left backs have a combined total of 1 all season.
Bentley---england's next right winger. already shown he has ability and doesn't look out of place in any side.
Barry---captain of Villa and now keeping Lampard out of the england side.
Surman---young, inexperinced but still making the grade for england U21s.
Young---nominated for young player of the year, been called up a few times for the full england national side.
Agbonglahor---been nominated for young player of the year, also been called up to the england squad on a few occasions.
Ebanks-Blake---twenty goals in the championship, most of them coming for Plymouth along with a few with Wolves, his current side.

They would all add something to our squad, probably more than what we already have. I, as I've said on many occasions, don't have a problem with our starting 11. I think it can match anybody on it's day, it's the squad where we struggle. Arbeloa gets injured, we bring in Finnan who is past it despite me still thinking he's a good player I'd rather have Richards there. Lescott would be a starter for me...he's a much better player both attackingly and defensively than either Aurelio or Riise are. Bentley would be a starter. Ebanks-Blake would be a better option than Voronin. Hennersay would be a better option than Intandje. Central defenders and midfielders aren't really required, but still the four I've put in those positions would be able to add something. Young or Babel is a toss of a coin as they're pretty similar.

So just in case you're still incapable of seeing it, these are NOT 11 players who I would expect Benitez to sign this summer, and are NOT 11 players who I would like to see take to the field for the opening game next season, they ARE however better squad players than what we have, minus the central defenders and midfield where we already strong.

Of course he does, hence why he's suggesting these world class players as highly possible signings to boulster our squad. How can you not understand that? That's what we need after all, world class British players (being British they are of course world class by default) who are going to improve our squad (forget starting eleven players).

Yes, because the squad needs strengthening...that's obviously been what's keeping us from challenging.  Instead of spending money on a couple of top class players--much like we've done to good effect with Torres this year--let's buy a bunch of middling bench-warmers who are, in most cases, no better and, in some cases, considerably worse than our current squad players.  Congratulations, John, another "hilarious" wind up for our entertainment. :kungfu:

No matter how much we spend, we wont have the same abilty in our squad next year as the other big clubs. Dosent mean we cant win the league, but untill we have 2 world class, or one world class and one potentially world class or vey good player for each position, we will be laggin behind in terms of quality. We wont be too far behind, just not where we would like to be.
