New striker? - Please can we discuss it in here

Kuyt & Babel probably would have been excellent strikers for us, Babel hasnt had a proper run in the team since he has arrived maybe he would put in more effort if he knew he was starting every game, but we have Torres and every one else is second best to him.

Kuyts downfall has been him playing on the wing and doing Forrest Gump impressions for the last two years even when he is played upfront he is everywhere except in the box, but that is the whole problem with us at times there is never anyone in the box, Cech spilled the ball twice on sunday but there was no player in sight to bang it in.

This is the best chance babel will ever have here if he doesnt take it with welcome arms then it will be bye bye in the summer.

He has the potential to be one of the best players in the league but its totally up to him to take the opportunity when it arrives and the time has arrived now.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Babel was only ever a prospect at Ajax, why do you think he will be World Class? He reminds me of Quaresma, all the football talent in the world, but with a severe lack of football intelligence. Babel cannot read the game and it is nothing that happens over time, you either have it or you don't. He doesn't have it.

That's tripe.

He was good last season for us in addition to Ajax. I have seen many players improve football intelligence in there career too. We needn't look further than our own Steven Gerrard.

I've seen nothing of Babel that shows me he is one for the future. He's a good player, but he'll never be a Steven Gerrard and his attitude stinks as much as his inability to beat players and cross the ball. I would like to see him play as a striker and I hope with Keane gone he will get his chance to shine.

Gerrard has always had a good understanding of the game, he has always been able to read the game, to compare him to Babel at Babel's age is futile.

In a normal day I'd laugh. But since we've lost Keane with no replacement I'm gutted. :(

I'm not laughing because I'd agree with that.  He's not great but bringing him back would make me feel just the tiniest bit reassured since he has, you know, actually scored a few goals for us in the past.  Any sense how he's made out on loan? ???

I liked Voronin, but from what has been said, he doesn't want to come back to Anfield. He hates the English cuisine and English weather and much prefers Curry Worst and German weather.

Voronin actually reads the game pretty well and gets into some good positions. My bet is if he lost about a stone and played regularly for us he would score more than 15 goals over the course of a season. I’m sure he would average around 1 in 3 or maybe a bit better.

Voronin has scored 3 goals in 14 league games for Hertha
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Like I say, he's a better bet than Kuyt or N'Gog.
