New stadium - Keeping up with the times

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Manchester United are considering expanding Old Trafford by a further 7,500 seats to a 75,000-capacity. this proves why we need a new stadium as do arsenal. man u are raking the money in compared to us due to 20,000 more spectators for every home game. add that to champions league revenue and thats why they made 50m more profit than us last year.

I agree, the new stadium is a must.  We should be building it by now!

Nope.  That would mean ripping some houses down around Anfield i would have though to put supports in for a new stand/tier.  It's got to be a new stadium.  We need to move on as much as i love Anfield.

Truth is we could build a new stadium on the Anfield site to rival all other stadiums. How? I here you ask
And we do have the room if we build a modern stadium with underground parking  the space is there.  For once I actually know something absolutely, definitely, certain about the anfiled site.  We could build a stadium with a 80,000 capacity on the existing site without interfering with the integrity of the surrounding area.  Only thing required is creative design.  But were would we play while the building work is going on, Simple, take adeep breath ok  Goodison! Calm down now calm down what do you want a new satdium on Stanley park or Anfield rebuild on the exact location where Shankly, Paisley and Fagan Rule, with the same pitch that we won so much, were all the ghosts of our heroes roam.  They do us a favour, when they get the money to rebuild we do them a favour.  Unless we just rent in which case we owe them nothing.  Believe me we might suffer for two seasons but just think what a new 80,000 seater Anfield would do for the future of the club!

to me the thought of knocking down the current ground and re-building on the same location seems silly.  It wouldn't seem like Anfield and would surely cost far more than going down the road to Stanley Park where there is a lot more room to build.  It will be a huge financial investment as it is. If they develop in the park arent they also thinking of building a hotel or 2 as well, or have i got that wrong.

I don't think building at Anfield is really feasible. At some ends of the ground there are terraces of houses only 20 yards away!

There was some feasability studies done over the years (I remember in the 1980s there was some fuss) and they all recommended buying up the neighbouring property, but this hasn't been possible so far.

The study last year suggested rotating the stadium 90 degrees on its axis, and there was also talk of sinking the pitch beneath ground/street level so as to give extra space to the stands.

I hate to say it but it looks like we'll have to leave Anfield if we are going to dramatically increase the stadium.

All I know is that we HAVE to increase capacity. I think the club would easily find another 5-10,000 spectators per home match, maybe more if the side is successful. Liverpool as a city is beginning to take off again with a new "cultural" image, and a fine new stadium, together with a fine football team, is just what the city needs.

- we need a bigger stadium to accommodate our fantastic fans in adequate numbers

- if we have to move then we have to move, sad as it will be

- groundshare is a no-go, we a) can't share with Everton on principle and b) do we want to see them in a fantastic new stadium?

- someone needs to make the decision and get on with it, delaying is of no financial benefit whatsoever (building costs increasing, lost revenue through extra ticket sales)
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
