OK, I'm in a bit of dilemma on Youtube. People are now asking me to do stuff like this video on a personal basis, and they are asking what I charge. I've never charged anyone for something like this (only canvas and murals) and there are no material costs or anything like that. I'm just wondering, what price would some of you lot be willing to pay for something like this done under personal terms, like a child, or a personal portrait. I'm not good at quotations.

What do they get, a clip of the picture from start to finish or a screen saver type picture ?

I would charge at least 20.00 purely for the work that you put into it, more if it is multiple subjects, like a family photo.

Ive seen George Best ones on my local market ( framed ) and they sell for between 20 and 30

Both the timelapse and the final hi-res image. My initial thoughts were more like 40-50 for the video and muliple subject paintings, but would probably be more like 35 to £40. I think that's reasonable. I mean, wherelse can you get something like that done. You certainly can't find that in a Yellow Pages.

Emerald. A mate of mines a programmer and charges 100-200 an hour. Another fella I know is a portrait photographer and can make upto 500 quid for a series. You should be looking at a lot more than 50 quid for the stuff you do mate. I'd quote it on an individual, intricacy basis, then work out how many hours it will take and multiply it by that. But I'd guess, if someone wanted one of their kid, as a baby as a toddler and as e teenager etc for example, you'd have to be looking at the least a grand. seriously.

It is mighty impressive and a living moving portrait, poeple would pay for, especially as everyone has a pc/dvd/lcd nowadays. Imagine a lcd screen on the wall instead of a picture frame, playing the images continuously! Hell of a business you could have on yer hands man.

Don't get me wrong, mate. I understand what you are saying, and I do realise that I'm underselling myself, but the thing is, most people see something like this and want it done for themselves, but they never fully understand what it involves or how skilled it is, and so if you fire a price tag at them, it's usually above what they expect. For something like this, most people will expect to get it for next to nothing. I've delt with it before when doing mural work, and as such I've either threatend to walk out or chuck a bucket of paint over the work unless they spat up the full amount we agreed on. It's the thing about working freelance. People can f*ck you over and there isn't a thing you can do apart from deface the work.

Well, some of the people havn't given specifics. I mean, a fella is looking to pay me for a Robbie Fowler one. THe same as the vid of Torres and the image. I was going to do it anyway, so it would be wrong for me to charge someone for something that I want to give out for people to look at for free. If I do a Fowler one, I want fans to see it and enjoy it. The thing for me is not about the money, it's about the art and the appreciation that people give it. If it makes people happy to look at it, that's all there is to it. Though, I could send a disc, or just simply email the video with the image.

Hmm, how about him coming out of a steaming shower with a towel round his waist with some blue movie type music playing? Oh, and of course, a plumber's tools and overalls on the floor.

That is an amzing piece of art and a great way of showing the creativity process and the building of the coloured layers and shading.

Fantastic.

Ok, I'm looking to do more of these, but Google is :censored: and so is Yahoo as far as finding good images of the players is concerened. I'm looking good quality pictures of the playres, especially Fowler and Carragher at the moment. Amazing that there arn't any decent sites about with good pictures of them on there.
