My indictment of the rafa benitez regime

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby DonnieDarko » Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:35 am

I'm sick and :censored: tired of the excuses on this forum for rafa benitez. He is totally and completely responsible for the utter dross being played by LFC today. He buys the players, he trains the players, he picks the squad. If Kuyt is playing :censored: because of family problems then rafa should stop :censored: playing him and put someone else in. Godamnit im so :censored:. all of you can :censored: off. I can't stand people who tolerate mediocrity. I expect to win every game

No team will EVER win every game in a season. And dont say Arsenal did, they didn't. Did they win all tournaments that year? NO.

And what about the Americans gonna have a go at them as well? Or just stick to the Benitez bashing bandwagon?

Personally, I'm not sure which side to take. I'm leaning more towards blaming the players. We just aren't clinical.

I don't think this thread will last long, but I do agree with the thread starter that some of the excuses are getting a bit pathetic now.

Peter Crouch had one eye on the Inter game he was awful, and Carragher has been let off easy this season he nearly gave two more pens away on saturday.

Him Finnan, Hyypia and Riise are three years older than the heroics of Istanbul, Finnan once MR realiable has been awful this season, our defence have scored own goals this season and given stupid pens and to many free kicks away around the box.

But lets just blame Rafa for the forwards not scoring what they are payed to do and blame Rafa for our shaky defence we might aswell seen as he is getting the blame for everything feckin else.

He did buy, them train them, and pick them , if he had told them to miss he would have a full house of reasons to be blamed.

Just look at the strikers that he has had in his 4 seasons

When he arrived
Diouf
Owen
Baros
Pongole
Le Tallec
Mellor
Cisse

Since his arrival

Fowler
Garcia
Bellamy
Morientes
Crouch
Kuyt
Voronin
Torres

There's quite a collection there.

i really hope that raffa does go soon. if he doesnt the pressure and the insults will get worse and worse and it would be a great shame if that became his legacy from his time here.as ive said before hes a top bloke who brought us such great joy at times (seems a long time ago now ) but really has to move on now before all the good things are forgotten. we had a similar situation in ireland with the appointment of steve staunton as international manager. he was a great player for us (and the reds) but a hopeless manager. now no one remembers steve staunton the payer, his name is a by word for failure and thats a great shame
shamrock rovers and liverpool are not a matter of life and death to me. they are much more important than that.

on the aging defense.  Rafa has recently addressed it with Skrtel who had a shaky first game but has since shown signs of promise, and brought in Agger, who when fit is great, and certainly you can't blame his injury on Rafa, and that is a crucial injury

We Miss You Dani Agger
We Miss You Dani Agger
We Miss You Dani Agger
Please get fit soon!

Arbeloa, also a very versatile and key part of the defense, maybe our best defender this year, has also been in and out of the line up after playing in nearly all our games at the begining of the year.

Rafa brought in Reina, he has been IMMENSE.

Either way you chop it up, we have a fullback issue with room to improve between Aurelio/Riise/Finnan, this is where I want Insua to step up, not sure what is holding him back.

We have the best Central midfield in the world.

We targeted Malouda and Mancini this summer but did not close the deal due to money, not sure if it was Rafa who wouldn't over pay on principle or the owners unwillingness to back, we probably will never know.

Gerrard should play more on the right, and IF pennant is our weakest link, I would say we have a strong squad because he aint THAT bad

Clearly there is a strikeforce problem at the club. Luckily we know of one player who is a sure thing of threatening the goal, and guess what? Rafa brought him in.  I don't think Crouch needs to go but,  he would have to be ok with being 4th choice as we need to bring in two players that are clearly better than him (and sell off Kuyt and Voronin)

You have got me there Ciggy, I just don't know whats gone wrong there. Before this season if we went a goal up against anyone, it was almost certain we would win. This season time after time we have scored first and either just managed to snatch a draw or lost.

Maybe age has caught up with them ?

The standard of football is a joke.  How anyone can defend long ball defensive football is beyond me.  The only man responsible for the way we play is the Manager.  The way we play will not change and its time for new fresh ideas.  We need someone who will be expansive and actually have faith in our attacking players to win us games.

who buys the players, decides to keep the players, trains the players, motivates the players, lays out the tactics for the players?

Benitez

Thanks for Istanbul but time to go.

the key to success is cohesion

none is evident in the current liverpool side - too many team changes (rotation again - apart from kuyt)

RB is not a bad manager, i just think he hasnt quite grasped the english set up. rotation may work in spain, but not over here.

You should play your best side (which should have torres in every week, and kuyt in the reserves) week in week out, no matter who you play. An intelligent person would realise that more readily.

I love RB, but cant fathom why he sticks with his policy so much and keeps playing kuyt (who apart from the odd goal, couldnt score in a brothel).

Play Crouch and Torres up front all the time (barring injury), and stick with a four four two, and get the players playing to one main system, instead of 10 different ones, then youll see consistency

just my opinion
