Mikael forssell to liverpool?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

From Sky,

Agent Vincenzo Morabito has revealed Liverpool, Newcastle , Fulham all want to sign Birmingham City's on loan Mikael Forssell.

"A loan season at Birmingham was a great decision but it's time to the big step."

"I don't believe that Chelsea would be willing to sell Mikael to one of their rivals like Liverpool or Newcastle."

"Mikael needs to be playing in the CL or in the UEFA Cup on a regular basis and he can't do that at Birmingham."

He is fantastic player! But do we need another stirker with Cisse coming?

Rather Forssell than Cisse if the money's right. I reckon £7m max for Forssell

he's chelsea's top scorer this season. i doubt if they would want to sell him to one of their potential rivals though. personally i'd rather have him than waste 14m on an unproven french league player anyday.

Mikael Forssell looks to be a very good target man. Scoring goals for birmingham is a big deal.

If only we had him instead of Heskey.....

If he was sold for 7 million, would rather take him then buy Cisse.

If Chelsea wud sell at a reasonable price (7-8M), of course we must buy!

But we wud also need the Zola/Mutu type of striker. We lack of a striker that can create opportunities, hold the ball, dribble well, and a reasonably good shooting touch. Ouch i think we really miss that sort of players.

And now i think we have none. Owen is capable of doing that, but he will continue to be the out-and-out striker. He is told to do so, and he wants to do so. So let's get someone else to do that.

Of course Forsell would be better value that Cisse.  At least he is proven at this level and would give us a return on our investments (i.e Goals).

Cisse could be another Diouf!  We know that Forsell would not.

Nar. Cisse has class, pace and power. He's not another Diouf.

I'm just gonna say nothing more about this and watch all your attitudes change next season. It will be interesting to see all you fickle tw#ts saying how we should have signed him all along and you knew he'd turn out good.

You two seem very quietly confident about Cisse, i do agree what you said about him like you said he has pace, class and power, which is right about it.
The problem is price cos i think it is madness to pay 14m for him, it is my opinion, ok, Stu.

Agree Stan, £14m is a lot of money for a striker who is unproven in a top European league. Even more so given that we have two £10m+ flops already. There is such a thing as a "right price", £14m is way too much to gamble, £11m for Anelka would have been money well spent. (btw, no need for the silly insults stu :p )

I'm interested in what Houllier and Cisse can do, if another manager was appointed or a different player signed I'd be interested to see how they do.
No one here can predict the future, say he will/won't be a flop, say another manager will/won't be better than Houllier.
The best thing anyone can do is take what happens and keep supporting the club.

I think he would be a great addtition and to be honest i dont think Chelsea care about who they sell players to and for how much as long as they arent one of their star names, so i wouldnt be surprised if we had a good chance of getting him.  This season we have suffered massively for not having strength in depth up front so I'd be happy to see him and Cisse arrive

Tell me Stu, how the hell do you know so much about Cisse? I mean, you have lambasted plenty of forum members here for "not knowing what they are talking about" because they don't regularly go to Liverpool games.

How many Auxerre games have you been to recently?

You are contradicting yourself big time on this Cisse thing.

You slag the likes of Big Al for not going to many Liverpool games (Big Al is from Belfast) saying that he cannot give an accurate opinion on Liverpool, yet he will have seen far more of Liverpool on Sky Sports than any one here from Britain and Ireland could possibly have seen of Cisse on tv.

I have seen Cisse play plenty of times on Eurosport and on Channel 5 (and he has looked very good on occasion) but I have seen him play only once in the flesh and that was the home game at Anfield against Auxerre last year and he had a stinker.

I sincerely hope Cisse succeeds if he comes here but to totally dismiss people's scepticism of Cisse given what happened with Diouff and Heskey (as well as Collymore before them) is stupid, arrogant and highly hypocritical.

I'm not saying that Cisse won't succeed, and as a Liverpool fan I hope that he gets 30 goals for us, but Houllier has burned us badly in the past with some of his big signings and I cannot possibly see how you can claim that Cisse is a banker.
