Mate I dunno I am trying to defend Rafa becasue I really think he can win the league here but it seems others will not be happy until he has gone. I dont know what to say im depressed.

I don't think any words from Rafa to the press has more importance than how we train, how good we are in squad depth (this is down to Rafa) and how we play and who we miss.

Mate , the difference between us and the mancs is they don't depend on 2 players , our play is built around torres and gerrard whereas the mancs pass the ball around and they loads of players who can get goals for them , vidic , ronaldo , rooney heck even fletcher .

Rafa has got to change his mentality , there are times where we are attacking but we pass the all the way back to the defense , i ahve rarely seen the mancs , chavs or arsenal do that

It's not Rafas style and wasnt at Valencia so why should he change? We brought him in so we were obviously saying yeah we like your style come to us.

If you look at closely mate all the players who arent really stepping up to plate our all players around the ten million mark, arent they? If you look at man utds team they dont have many of these players as most of there players our close to the 20 million mark.  A 10 million pound player is not as good as a 20 million pound player.  Hes had money to spend but on many occasions hes wanted better players but not had the resources so had to go for the cheaper option.  So thats aload of bull mate.

At least mourinho knows how to get wins , he puts his best squad out and does not fecking rotate . We're a cup team , we can't last the distance in the league thats why . Mourinho won the champions league with porto , greece won the euro's , how do you respond to that ? Anything is possible with the right mentality and manager is whether he is willing to go for , 1st half of the season he was brilliant rafa , when we were losing he took of fullbacks , today he takes of stevie , leaves masch on . He has with the team a couple of times this season and got away with it today we paid the price .

Roy Evans didnt win the title and was booted.
Houllier after 5 years delivered no title and was booted.
Rafa in his 5th season will not deliver the title and to be honest is nowhere near it.  He should go.

Diversity , if yout style does not work anymore and the opponent learns it don't you have to change your tactics? It's generally the law of the jungle , rafa only has one style . Rotation does not work and he keeps persisting with it , if we get another champions league title , well done rafa even that i doubt it

Worst performance of the season, our fringe players are not good enough, and its obvious they put everything into the madrid game and had nothing left. i am not as angry as last week because last week I think we all know it was then we lost our title chance.

100% correct. Our first 11 on their day is as good as any in the league, but outside that, things are thin. Our bench today proved it. In fact, having El Zahr on the pitch proved it. We need a gluttony of signings in the summer of quality. Do we have the money for it? I don't think so. We may have to settle for two really high class signings and some better quality squad players. Some players will have to be sold off, and I expect players like Lucas, Benayoun, Babel and several fringe players to exit. Honestly, it doesn't matter if the manager is replaced. It won't change the situation for us. In fact, I can only see it worsening if that happens. If Benitez really has maintained that he wanted more control of signings, then lets see if his word is true. If he signs a few lesser unknowns and squad fillers again, well, then I'd advocate that he leaves because he will no longer have this leaning stick of an excuse to fall back upon.

Good post ..... you just forgot to mention who's fault it is that the squad is so weak and who bought all the poor players that fill it.

The squad is not so weak, s@int. Considering we've gone this long and only now is the depth starting to show. United have a better bench. Chelsea's squad is still vastly superior to ours, yet we're still kicking about close to them in the table. The difference, and I still strongly maintain this, is that Chelsea and United can strengthen at will by signings players costing in excess of 20 million at a time. United and Chelsea average spending of at least 50 million in the summer, whereas we barely manage over 20 million to spend. That's the difference. United's team has had the ball rolling for over 15 years in the league, and all they have to do is drop big sums on their primary targets to strengthen and replace, whereas Benitez (and Houllier respectively) have had to do a complete rebuild of the entire squad almost. It is seriously unfair to berate a manager who's had to come into a club in the state ours has been in, and expect him to win the title in a set period of time. Who the f*ck makes these rules up anyway? Like I said, let's see who we go for in the Summer and who we manage to get. Like it or not, people, it's a fact these days that the CL is massively important to football clubs. It's the promised land, and everyone is trying to get there. Problem is, not everyone is allowed. It's an attraction of major talent to a team if you do well in it. Problem is, if you don't have the cash to splash on that talent, you won't get them. We have the best manager is Europe for that competition. If we do really well this year in it, and get the money now that Benitez has no more obstacles obstructing his dealings, then maybe, just maybe, we'll get our David Villa's and Dani Alves's of this world playing for the most promising side to be competing on the European front.
