I've read he is highly rated, but I don't know jack about him.

Please share your thoughts about the possibility of him joining Mr. Carragher.
Mourinho was customizing his flashy blue racing car -- applying the finishing touches of go-faster stripes, aerodynamic spoilers and a fat f@ck you exhaust -- while on his red car, Benitez was trying to glue together a broken chassis, repair bodywork and replace burst tyres.

Personally i would prefer Gallas ,i think Upson is a pretty average defender.

while gallas would be a great signing chelsea would be reluctant to let him leave

upson would be great but the gooners have first choice on him i believe. Galaas would also be great but the cheatski dont wanna let him go.

Either would be a very welcome addition to the squad

excellent addition if he came, unlike an overseas addition they would take time to get used to the frenetic pace of the english game but upson is experienced at it.

Upson is a good CB. Thats it. Good, not spectacular. He is very fast, though, and he'd probably improve greatly training alongside Sami and JC. Plus Beni improves every player he has contact with! Sign him.

Upson and Carragher might form a great partnership as both of them are english and know the premiership style of play. Hyppia getting slower with age and might end up being as fast as Pellegrino... :D :D :D

If we go get either Milito or Ibanez, they will take some time to adapt to the premiership. I'd prefer having upson. We lost two times to Birmingham last season and didn't mangage to score a goal against them as they proved to be very solid at the back.

If its between Upson and Gallas there's no contest Gallas wins hands down.
What i've seen of Upson last year didnt fill me with confidence although we couldnt score against them, he seemed to switch off at times and Birmingham conceded some really poor goals. I am in favour of signing players already used to the pace of the Premiership...but seriously doubt that he is good enough.

I have to agree, Gallas is different gravy to Upson. Upson is a decent defender, Gallas is a class defender. If the nationalities were reversed then there would be a massive difference in value. As it is they are approx the same, Gallas would be great value at circa £8 million.
