Just disappointed,he probably would have been rested for Saturdays game against arsenal but thats not the point,its the inconsistancy,would this have happened if it was rooney or terry...................

Totally agree, this was a typical knee jerk reaction by the FA based on media hype and totally over the top. What Masch did was nowhere near as bad as Cole but because Cole was not sent off he gets away scot free

Better than rotation, not that Mascherano would have played this weekend anyway. That the FA and FIFA feel dissent and failing to leave the pitch deserves an extra two match ban while deciding not to do anything about Eduardo type tackles says it all. What is the saying, "Taylors and stones may break thy bones, but dissent will never hurt thee"

So what is the aftermath to the charges brought on fergie and his b1tch quiroz ? Were they also made an example of for their comments on the ref (for the portsmouth game) ?

There is 1 rule for manure and chelsea .....and there is another rule for the rest of the league...

Funny considering all Adeybyor got was an additional 1 match ban when he was given his marching orders and refused to leave the pitch in the Carling Cup last year.

Can't say I'm at all surprised by this reaction from the stuffed shirts down ol' London way. The media went off on one of their vigilante type crusades after old ©Ashley Cole offered Mike Reilly a bit of bum sex at Spurs.
It was always gonna be odds on that any player showing any disrespect to a ref in the immediate aftermath was gonna feel the full knee-jerk wrath of the old Farts Association.

Under normal circumstances Mascha probably would've got a stern ticking off and a fine at most. What stinks for me is that the FA have allowed themselves to take further action against Mascherano but have let Cole get away scot-free, double standards if ever there were!

Its like Max Mosley. If the FIA sack him its an offence against his civil liberties to 5 prozzies at the same time (well done fella, wish I could do that) and if they dont, they are condoning his actions and setting a bad example and upsetting the sponsers.

If they didnt penalise Masher then they were condoning his abusive language and harrassment and not supporting the ref, and having done so they are accused of a knee jerk reaction, so you cant win.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with previous posts here.
I have been a fan of this club for 34 years, and on only one occasion has a Liverpool player reacted in a similar manner after a dismissal; that player was Kevin Keegan in the Charity shield after he retaliated after being kicked all over the pitch by the filthy Leeds team Brian Clough inherited off Don Revie. And all Keegan did was take off his shirt and throw it on the ground.... A liverpool shirt is not something to be thrown away but in the cicumstances it was understandable.

I think Masch is a fantastic player, I love seeing him in the shirt. BUT IMHO he was out of order in a big way. Forget who we were playing, forget the fact that his first yellow was , and the second a farce. He had been sent off - period. It is the Liverpool way of old, and should be now to respect the ref and get off the field of play with dignity and without fuss and make your complaints and appeals behind closed doors. Masch has to respect that and his actions were a disgrace as far as I am concerned - sure he wanted to win and cared about what happened (maybe however he should have been clever enough to realise under the current climate he should have just shut the up) but his behaviour was .
He should consider himself lucky with what he has got. The FA were gagging to jump on someone and Masch gave them the perfect excuse - its a shame one of our lads had to be the fall guy.

Bit of a difficult one for me this, one one hand i strongly believe that refs decisions should never be questioned by the players on the pitch. Maybe the captain should be allowed a polite word but that's it, no matter how poor the refs performance during the game that's down to the FA to assess and then withdraw those refs who under perform from the big games. Sure passions run high especially when a ref makes an obvious mistake in a big game so what!, in rugby players in an extremely physical aggressive game  still show respect for the refs and their decisions or their team gets punished immediately by 10 yards further back etc. True rugby refs have the back up on big decisions of the video playback which the crowd can also see, and thus tend to get the vast majority of these calls right. I feel that this is the way for us to go in football no back chat whatsoever to refs and video technology were ever possible without interrupting the flow of the game. Maybe if each captain or manager were allowed to dispute and call for video on say 3 decisions per game only, less of the really bad refereeing decisions - the type that can be game changing and wind players  and supporters up alike would occur.

After saying all that i am very sad that it has has to be macha and us (surprise surprise) that has been made the example of when their have been many much more serious incidents of contempt from other players, whole teams, and managers in the recent past. on that point what about ole red nose fergie the fu.kin hypocrite condemning macha when he has probably shown more contempt to refs than anyone talk about pot and kettle. Anyway the past is the past decisions have been made and the FA have come down hard on macha , i think we should not appeal their decision regardless of past precident but we MUST demand that okay if that's the way its going to be we want CONSITANCY and that includes the mancs and chelski when they play at home, that's during the game and after when crying c.UNT fergie has his moan when things have gone against them.

If you read my post you will see that i was disscusing the issue of contempt as a whole, the FA and the steps they should take in situations like this and also how to stop these situations arising.
Of course the FA should back the ref whether he was right or wrong in his decisions, human error will always occur but contempt is not something that happens accidentally regardless of what ever led up to it.
To many times now i watch games even at kids Sunday league level only to see the youngsters and their parent effing and blinding questioning pressurising showing nothing but contempt for refs, all behavior learnt from their idols. This has to stop now and if that means the FA coming down like a ton of bricks so be it.
As stated in my earlier post CONSITENCY is what is required now and some of the methods previously put forward by me (video etc ) may help achieve this.
