Too be honest, if I was the chairman I would not have let Rafa sign Mascherano until he had sold one of the other 4 central midfielders so if we don’t secure the permanent transfer today I wont blame the owners.

Only 4? Alonso got 5!

Just kidding :D

Excellent news. IMHO the money paid, no matter what the price is is well paid. We need top class players like Mascherano or Alonso. And for those cases you need money, and this time we know the product so I consider it well paid.

The player deserves this, and the fans aswell.

Great news.

Liverpool 'Sign' Javier Mascherano

Liverpool have just secured the full registration of Javier Mascherano after months of uncertainty.

The player's loan spell at Anfield ends in five months, and the midfielder was keen to secure his future, and growing increasingly restless.

It was reported earlier today that Joorabchain was meeting with Rick Parry and Co. in order to make the move permanent, and that Liverpool would use the money from the Momo Sissoko deal to fund part of his transfer fee - 25 million euros (£18.6 million).

Reports from Liverpool now suggest that the agreement has now been reached, and the required payments made for Mascherano to become a Red.

The Argentine signs a four year contract at Anfield; an official confirmation is expected shortly.

The news will come as a major relief to Liverpool fans all around the world in what is a moment of uncertainty for the club.

It is also perhaps an indication that the relationship between Rafa Benitez and the club's American owners is on the mend.

Supposedly a done deal now but I will wait for official comfirmation this time.

DEFENDER SOLD BUT NO MASCH NEWS
Liverpoolfc.tv 31 January 2008
Liverpool have announced the sale of defender Lee Peltier to Yeovil Town.
The 20-year-old Academy graduate, who has four Liverpool appearances to his name, has been on loan at the League One outfit since the start of the season.

Meanwhile, contrary to reports elsewhere, the deal to complete Javier Mascherano's permanent move to Liverpool has yet to be finalised.
