Lynds i think you are clutching at straws as far as Xabi goes, if he wants out
nobody can blame him.

Imagine bieng with a bloke/bird and you know if something else comes along this case
Barry, then you are second best, then the said bloke/bird in this case Barry doesn't want to know
and you suddenly become a rebound 1st choice how would you feel.

As I said in the other thread if he wants to go then let him, but luckily we dont have to sell so Rafa can milk Madrid for all he can. I don't want this to turn into a Ronaldo situation where every summer they are coming for him.

RAFA: MASCHERANO IS NOT FOR SALE
James Carroll 10 June 2009

Rafa Benitez today dismissed speculation linking Javier Mascherano with a move away from Liverpool.
The Argentina international's agent was yesterday quoted as saying our No.20 would be prepared to talk to newly crowned European champions Barcelona.

However, Benitez is adamant Mascherano is not for sale at any price and insisted the 25-year-old is happy to stay at Anfield.

"Mascherano has no price," said the Liverpool boss.

"Barcelona could not afford to match his value to Liverpool Football Club.

"We do not want to sell and Javier is very happy here.

"I have spoken to Javier two or three times this summer – the last time was only last week – and he was very happy, very positive.

"He gave me the private number of his agent, Walter Tamer, and again the conversation was very positive and was all about football.

"Walter told me that two clubs with big, big names were asking after Mascherano – and I told him to forget it, that Javier was happy in Liverpool and he was not for sale.

"So I was surprised to see the agent's comments today.

"He has a long contract and any club can forget about bidding for him. They can offer £40m or even £50m, we don’t want to sell."

Wish I could have overheard that conversation

Rafa: "I know where you live"

Still wont put the rumours to bed but i am glad Rafa has come out and stated what he said as i couldnt see Barca ever offering money like that.

Fingers crossed with Alonso as well, we need our best players to stay and be happy.

good on Rafa though for actually coming upfront and saying 'fek off barca'.

wonder what he'd do if they did offer over £50 million for Masch though ?

Agree with St Mike that if Mascha does end up going then Yaya Toure should be the replacement. Failing that bring back Momo Sissoko!! :)
