Sissoko couldn't lace Mascherano's boots.

Momo resembles someone with no discernable footballing skill who looks like a drunk chasing a carrier bag in a gale.

Really? All he does is break up play only to then give the ball away. I can see why he is enjoying himself in Italy where the pace is so much slower so he is not under as much pressure to pass so quick.

Now, if Rafa can switch Mascheranos name to Alonso in that exact same article, problem solved :D.

look its down to how much we need the cah and what players Rafa has in mind, for me they are two of our best players and i dont think theres much better pout their that you could get with that sort of money.

I fear its going to be hard for our club to lkeep them once the money starts to go up.

I chose Alonso cuz of the age factor and replacement factor. 27yrs v 25yrs.
Alonso can be replaced, yes he can... by... Gerrard. Stevie's not getting any younger and I see a future perm role for him in CM/playmaker. He's more of an AM/CM currently but age catches up to even the best players and Stevie will evolve his game less of heartstopping defence piercing aggressive runs and into that inch perfect pass and controlling of the game which Alonso is doing now. And with that money from Alonso, we bring in another world class forward like Villa or Tevez to support Torres.
Good defensive midfielders on the other hand are really tough to find. Many play without them but if you find that one good player like Viera, Makelele and now Mascherano, it'll be a big bonus to any team. I have had this long held belief that it's more difficult to find a good defender than a good attacker.

Disclaimer: The above mentioned views are purely hypothetical in this thread of a hypothetical situation. Of course I want both Alonso and Masch to stay!

spot on mate, they are defo 2 of our best players & it is fecking madness to even think there is better out there for the money.

for me money isn't the issue it's about their quality & what they give to the side, to sell either would be a massive mistake as we need to only add a couple of players to the squad for next year & the midfield isn't an area we need or should compramise with.

i do share your concern though aswell mate that the more money may be touted around it will make it hard for raffa, as tw1t & tw@t may force him into it, it really fecking concens me as selling either will weaken the side for sure.

I like Messi but he needs to shut the :censored: up.

Messi urges Liverpool star to join him at Nou Camp

Lionel Messi has urged his international colleague Javier Mascherano to leave Liverpool and join him at Barcelona.

Reports last week suggested the newly crowned European Champions had approached Liverpool with a £20 million bid for the former West Ham player. Rafa Benitez subsequently rejected any notion of selling his combative midfielder.

Messi told the Shiterag: “It will be beautiful if Barcelona signed Javier, as a player and as a friend.”

“Not only to have him on the pitch but also off it as well. He's a great player and would be a great signing.”

Liverpool’s midfield has been under siege of late, after Real Madrid made strong overtures towards Xabi Alonso, and although they recently admitted their pursuit was doomed to fail as the Premier League club did not want to sell, manager Rafa Benitez will not rest easy until the window closes.

It seems both players have been pining for moves away from the club, and the two aforementioned La Liga giants have been only too happy to pounce on the financial uncertainty surrounding Anfield presently.

Benitez’s transfer plans for the summer has been undermined by the clubs mounting debts, although the ex-Valencia coach remains hopeful of brining in one or two new signings.

14.01 Reports in Spain claim Javier Mascherano's agent is due to hold talks with Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon at the club's offices in Camp Nou, regarding a move from Liverpool.

If Messi misses Mascha so much why doesn't he come to Liverpool, a better solution I think you'll all agree.  :D  :p
