I see gerrard-masch in the center, which is a bit worrying for me because of lack of creativity in that area.

Maybe Torres can balance that out :D

where do you think he is playing then? right wing?

exactly what i was thinking.

imagine if our three subs are Alonso, Riera, and Keane/Agger that would be starting with a strong XI and finishing with possibly a stronger one.

to me it smells like the return of the 4-2-3-1 of last season.

This is where the bean-counting approach to rotation annoys me.  It's not about the number of changes but about who and why:

(1) Dossena's in for Aurelio because the Brazilian has a knock and didn't travel
(2) Gerrard for Alonso (or Benayoun if you prefer) because he's our best player and needs to get his match fitness back up
(3) Torres for Keane because he's our second best player and needs to get his match fitness back up
(4) Babel for Riera because Rafa's already said (in his post match comments on Saturday) that Riera's fitness is not yet where it needs to be and Babel, as a confidence player, needs to build on his great cameo anyway
(5) Lucas for Benayoun (or Alonso if you prefer) because presumably the Brazilian could use a game and Yossi's the weakest link (you said so yourself on Saturday didn't you TH?)

So, out of those decisions the only one I would see as pure rotation for rotation's sake is Lucas for Benayoun/Alonso.  The rest make complete sense to me. ???

Agreed.  I think Lucas will play Alonso's role, with Gerrard behind Torres and Kuyt and Babel flanking him.

Toffeehater wrote:What a bench , its crunch time for lucas and babel , time to prove stu wrong . Keane on the bench . Rotation has started already i see . 5 changes for ffs , rafa not starting with riera , what a surprise

4-2-3-1

Reina

Arbeloa     Carra      Skrtel       Dossena

               Masch    Lucas
Kuyt                                    Babel

                     Gerrard

                     Torres

Lucas is the only prob for me, he needs to pick his game up and tonights the night he can show us he can do it. i mean we have him at least till Jan lol

i like the line up but i hot by our 2 best players starting dont me they will be rested at the weekend for the Stoke game, if we draw that one Rafa might wake up with a horse's head in is bed.
