I read yesterday that Marseille want Diouf - do you guys think we might be lucky enough to get something like the money we spent back on him? Do you think it is a joke to rub salt in the wounds? Do you think it's true but they won't offer much for him?

Do you rate Diouf enough to want to keep him?!?!?!?!?!?

If we could get a decent price for him I'd sell him.
Trouble is I don't think anyone would be prepared to offer much for him right now so it's probably just rumour.

To be fair to him, like a few other signings he's been played out of position for most of his time at Anfield so it's difficult to say how good he is or could be given a chance to play in a role that suits him.

Houllier won't sell him anyway though as that would be like admitting he had made a mistake and he's to arrogant to ever do that.

He's not a bad player. But he's not a great one.

If we'd signed him for £5m no-one would have complained i don't think. But we signed him for stupid money.

Good squad player i supose, but i'd sell if the price was right.

I would be very surprised that Diouf will be sold for 5 or 6millions! I can't see that cos every clubs know that he is not worth it of that price.

Really can't make my mind up on Diouff. Very frustrating player because at times he shows us glimpses of what he can do but generally his contribution has been poor. I can't see us getting 5mill for him so i would probably give him another season. I think Houllier has to take a lot of blame here - He spends a forune on the fella, tells us we will all forget about Anelka in no time, gives him 3 months up-front then sticks the lad out on the wing.

With good coaching, Diouff could become a decent premiership player but none of his faults have been ironed out by the coaching staff. Here are just a few of them:

- Always playing with his head down (no wonder his awareness of team mates sux)

- Regularly runs down blind alleys (agian get your head up!)

- Often plays at half-pace with the ball at his feet, inviting challenges

- Rarely gets in the box since moving out to the wing

Maybe a new manager will help realise Diouffy's potential?

In case Big Ben is reading (this is NOT a racist comment) How many African footballers have made it in the Premiership on a consistent basis? Can you guys think of any coz aside from Kanu (limited success) and Toure i can't.

I read in the paper that Diouf was hugging the Marseille subs at the end of the game and giving high fives to the stewards. Obviously not too disappointed about the result!!!

Time to sell him on while we can get half decent money.

I totally agree, Diouf has the ability to become a great player, its just that the coaching staff have to really get out outta him....

I agree, Diouf has clearly got plenty of talent waiting to be exploited but the current coaching staff just can't seem to manage him. His discipline on and off the field is questionble and that shows a lack of respect for the club. I would give him a go under a new manager before rushing out to sell him, unless we got £10m for him which ain't gonna happen.

Diouff, like Cheyrou and Fulham's Steve Marlet still enjoys a huge reputation in France and as Marseille showed in bringing in Marlet on loan from Fulhma, they still rate some of the former French league players that flopped in England.

I agree with Stu's analysis that Diouff is an ok player but not a great one and we paid too much for him.

I would be prepared to cut my losses on him and selling him for a few quid if we could get it.
