You see my point though Joe, in hindsight, knowing what we know now and all that old b0ll0cks, should we have givne the fella practically his debut in a Champions league game? There's a big difference between "but you can't play the same team in every single game" and that particular strand of rotation "Rafa style". Becuase that game came in the middle of our "blip", during which time we were frantically trying to get the ship back on an even keel, the result has had a huge effect on our remaining fixtures (losing in Besiktas didn't help as well obviously). I'll have to check up on Bob's team sheets on the rotation thread to see if there was any "Rafa style" in that game..
EDIT: Just quickly so the R word doesn't take over this thread, the team according to Bob (and he hasn't been wrong so far) was Reina, Finnan, Carra, Hyppia, Riise, Pennant, Gerrard, Masherano, Babel, Kuyt and Voronin.
To be totally honest there's not a lot wrong with that in isolation other than the front two not really hitting it off too well. To be fair to rafa though, it looks like by this stage he had realised that he really could quite do with us getting a result.
