Sabre, I found something interesting:

Liverpool in for midfielder

Real Sociedad midfielder Xabi Prieto has admitted he has been made a target by Liverpool. The midfielder admits he may leave the Spanish club if Liverpool did make an offer.

Prieto said: "It is rewarding that a club like Liverpool follows you. It means that I'm doing things well. I have not thought about England, I am happy in Donosti, my city, where I have my friends, my fiancée.

"It would be complicated to leave here, although you never know ..."

Yes that's true, it appears in an interview of Real Sociedad's official site, but I must say that the translation has some "details" in order to give the rumour more relevance.

Xabi Prieto is the best dribbler I've seen in 25 years in Anoeta. He just needs to build hap his thin body a little bit more, and another season, perhaps two to be top class. He has an incredible technique, he has evaded 2 defenders in a corner leaving them sit down more that 10 times this season.

Liverpool is scouting him yes, it's acknowledged that the two men Liverpool are following in RS are Prieto and Riesgo the keeper (lots of future this keeper).

I must say though, that the press gives far too much importance to this scouting. Meaning that Alex Ferguson brother was in Anoeta last week too... so he was to scout Xabi Alonso and Nihat, but it was eventually Rafa who got the gem.

Rafa was very clever in the Gonzalez loan deal. He earnt the right of refusal, meaning that even IF Mancs or Valencia make an offer this summer, Liverpool will be able to match that offer and bring Xabi Prieto.

Real Sociedad also wins in this offer, because having Liverpool as the big brother, the value of the player increases, needless to say.

He ends contract in 2008. the refusal right gives Rafa some warranties that nobody will get first to the player. And at the end of next season, Real Sociedad will probably want to sell him, because in 2008 we wouldn't get any money for him... so I think Prieto will leave Real Sociedad, to Liverpool, not this summer but the next. The right of refusal is there just to keep others under control.

Later I'll upload the photos of Mark I did yesterday, and some details!

There. Mark and Big Fat Head Sabre (I know now why I was told by a test I made in a thread that I was Steve Bruce  )

I knew that getting him after the training might be more difficult due to girlies bothering him, so I didn't doubt to make he Mark assault in the parking. Nice Mercedes cabrio he has.

I told him I'm a Real Sociedad partner (season ticket) and LFC fan, and I congratulated him for the season, he was thankful. I told him that people is following him in Liverpool, and gave him the 64 pages thread. He puts surprise face and he glanced some of the sheets with a frown face (mixture between surprise and pride and that I think he didn't understand well english). I explained how there are photos, game reviews, comments, and some welcome messages at the end. He said thanks.

Then I explained the Phil problem, and he asked me the paper, but he first put the papers in the car, as he said he'd read them later. He asked me how Phil was doing, and asked me for the paper. He used he car for putting the paper on it. I offered him to write in english but he humbly responded "My english isn't too..." I just said, it doesn't matter, write in Spanish then. When he finished he asked me if that was ok. It surprised me how humble he was.

He finished, looked to me eyes and shaked my hand while he said it's been a pleasure, he was really nice.

I tried to :censored: him as he left saying that I have no doubts he will sit down Kewell (sorry aussie mates, I was grateful) , but the guy didn't say anything just giggled.

Then I went to the training session, in which I saw a low intensity training, I'll put some money on Espanyol game, as they're fighting for not to be relegated, and I saw the guys too relaxed.

Some light continuous runs, with no sprints, a futvolley game, in which only once bounce of the ball was allowed, and three "passes" max, and a 55% pitch game. In it I saw the lad always is competitive. He doesn't like losing even in trainings, he was the most active of the lot by far.

I learnt that his nickname in the squad is "Chile", he's asked for the ball that way. "Chile!!!"

Quite a cheerful lad, in this photo he was joking with a mate he was running on front of him, he gets along well with everybody.

For when Sabre wanted to grab the photo, the bloody player already delivered the ball, he has a quick first touch game, the bast  :)

Well it was nice for me to meet him, I don't like bothering players, but I hadn't the feeling of doing so, he was really nice and natural. To be honest I liked that he firmly grabbed my back when he made the photo, he seemed to be grateful and delighted of the interest of you lot.

Ciggy, I have a hi res photo and I'll cut Marks part if you want a better detail of the body of this player  :)

I tried to :censored: him as he left

Sounds very passionate! I'm not quite clear what you tried to do to him as he left, but we all have our own way of praising players!!  :D

Really cool though. It makes you feel a bit special to think that a player in a foreign land will read your words and find out what we're all saying about him. And it's a good judgement of character that he would take time to listen to Phil's story and seem to care as well. Well done Sabre.

The verb is provoke, I tried to get some juicy statement from him telling that about Kewell, but he didn't fall in the trap :)

Sabre, mate, you're a genius!

You should contact liverpoolfc.tv--maybe they'd like to hire you as their San Sebastian correspondent.  You could give weekly updates on Gonzalez and the other prospect you mentioned!

(In hindsight, perhaps this idea would have worked better earlier in the season, though!)

Keep up the good work "fathead"! :D

I will

But too late, I bring fresh news, according to the local radio, Real Sociedad can forget about having Mark until December, because the British Government, will be granting the work permit in the next few days!!!!!

It was about time they make some sense, he won't need the Spanish passport, and he's going to be able to play there from summer.

Congratulations, Mark.

Phew thank god for that, no not him the god from above.

i honestly thought that Mark would never get to play for us, That would have made the football quiz, "Which Football player signed for liverpool but never actaully  never played football for the first team"

LMao goes to show how Sh!t our Government is, they granted Asylum to 9 Highjackers to live in this country but they wont let Mark work in this country, F@cking pathetic.
