No offence intended.

My bad, I admit when I totally misread the post. Offence taken, but warrented.

But still stand by that your previous comments on that you don't rate him wasn't really backed up.

I'd like to apologise to you for the lack of immaturity by myself and disrespect to you in my previous post and I agree entirely my comment with regards to me not rating him had very little evidence or support to back them.

I have some news about the situation, but I must translate them. In a nutshell, the local press has been buggering Paco Herrera with lots of questions about Gonzalez's future, and wether if it exists the slightest chance of Gonzalez staying in San Sebastian next season.

Paco's answer in a nutshell, was that both Liverpool and the player want to have him in Anfield in summer, but just in case the burocratic problem persist, Rafa is very happy with the loan on San Sebastian and in the context of the good relationships between the two clubs, he'd be more than happy of Real Sociedad being the team in which Gonzalez stays for a while if everything goes wrong. Good news however, is that in the WORST CASE SCENARIO Paco Herrera stated that the work permit would be achieved at the end of the year (he just stated it, he didn't explain why unfortunately, perhaps it's the time they expect to get the Spanish passport), so the extension of the loan would be until December market transfer window. In the Best case scenario he'd get the work permit in Summer, Paco'd expect that the fact of his good performance in primera (unlike Albacete which is a segunda team) would be good enough to convince the British authorities about the talent of Gonzalez.

Worst case scenario: December.
Best case scenario: Summer.

And answering Lando, yes, the passport issue is on the way, but as Gonzalez stated it takes some time

P.D. Oasis, there's no need to apologise so much mate, I too say some things wrong or completely mislead or with few information sometimes :)

hopefully Sabre can clear things up but for what i understand it's not definte that he'll get a Spanish passport- and even if he does it can take a year to come through!!

from what i understand i think Benitez is hoping that he'll get a work permit as he's proving that he's an exceptional talent in a european league-so if the Govt try and turn him down this time they'll have a difficult time explaing in it as he's no longer injured and is proving he can play at the highest level.

Hear what you're saying Tommy but I think the yardstick for a UK work permit for a player outside of the EU revolves around international appearances (I may of course be wrong) . If thats the case then we may not see him here until a, he plays lots of internationals orb, he stays in Spain until he qualifies for an EU passport ,which could take years .

:(

Come the Summer, Gonzalez will have been in Spain for the required 5 years, I do believe, to gain Spanish citizenship.

But the lad himself said in an interview read on here that it's a matter for the Spanish government to decide, and applications take upto 1 1/2 years.

He has already applied, and the wheels are in motion according to said interview. (I think it's the one translated by Sabre.)

Actually the requirment is 2 years.  :D

Well thats great news indeed Sabre. I honestly dont see the government sayign no this time after seeing how well hes played against the top teams in La Liga.

Doh. I said "I'll answer him later" and then I forgot, but yes I did read your PM and tried to answer it :)

Did you know that our Mark Gonzalez has fear to heights? he said so in an interview, and said that was actually funny, because when he was a little children and his mother was not at home, he used to hang :O from the window of a 47th floor with his sister :O until he was caught doing that (he was about 5-6 years old). Now he's afraid even looking down from the inside.

Yeh, but we'll comment that tomorrow, we're in the final of the FA!!!!!!!!!!!

In a quick note, it was another free kick, powerfull ball that went low to the barrier, the barries was not well settled, the ball went in to the legs of the barrier changing the trajectory and goal. We have 38 points now, 12th place right now, and we have to get 3 points more to be safe out of 4 matches. The toughest part is done, and we have lots of things to thank to Mark and Liverpool.

Villareal played with 7 men that are not regular in the team, and at this level you pay that dearly. They were thinking more on Arsenal, fortunately.

Josemi had a hard afternoon with Mark, BTW :D

Congrats Sabre and well in, Gonzo!  Make sure you bring that form over with you when you come!

As for Villareal thinking ahead to Arsenal, Sabre, the Gooners were doing the same thing today...a North London derby and both Henry and Fabregas start on the bench?  What was Wenger thinking?

You didn't see Rafa resting Stevie in the league at this stage last season.  It beggars belief, sometimes.  :D

BTW, had totally forgotten that we offloaded Josemi to Villareal.  Might he be in line to start on Tuesday given their injury and suspension problems?  There's a thought, Josemi lining up at RB and trying to contain Henry, Reyes and Ljunberg!

What's crazy is that Josemi has a shot at scoring his second Champions League medal.

How about that thought:  Josemi being amongst the most merrited full backs in europe. :D
