Relegation is possible, and it would be the first relegation in 40 years. 3rd coach, and he hasn't changed the bloody midfield, which is our problem. Mikel Alonso has played every single game of the league, I don't know why. Not a single day of rest. Every player has been rested, Prieto, Nihat, the keeper, but him. And he's utter sh!te he won't receive his fifth yellow card, as he's soft.  If we continue this way, relegation is unavoidable. And it's annoying since I think we have team for more.

Anyway, relevant stuff for you:

Mark Gonzalez keeps improving and improving. He has been declared MOM in the last two games against Osasuna on wednesday, and against Getafe.

His goal against Getafe, wich you can see, is superb. I have only seen 2 men scoring a free kick from so far in 20 years: Ronald Koeman, and Roberto Carlos. Period. That means his long shot is excellent.

He was kicked and he's doubt for next game, hopefully he'll be with us, because he has the best attitude of the team by a mile. Our veterans should be ashamed of him putting the eggs in the field.

Anyway, he's going to be an interesting man for Liverpool, I think we can assure that right now.

Was watchin Revista la liga this morning, and seen brief highlights of the Getafe match, Alonso gave away a stupid penalty and aside from Gonzalez's wonder free kick, your team didn't offer too much.
Lets hope Mark is fit for your next league game and he can keep up that sort of form.
Good luck for the rest of the season sabre.

Thank you Erica, Ace Ventura.

I will go to Anoeta even in segunda, but we must keep fighting to save ourselves now. We've been in this situation before.

Of course I am, I'm a LFC fan.

It's like having two best mates, if one is ill, you're sorry for him and trying to help, but if the other one is healthy and succesfull you're happy for him too. :)

Maybe we can rob Nihat on the cheap from them.

Seriously hope they stay up though. I was gutted when they missed out on the title to madrid that season. They had this one young midfielder at the time who i thought was class..... Xabi something or other - wonder what happened to him. :D

Real Sociedad, I've already said this before, but it would be the sweetest of defeats, or the soarest of the victories.

I don't think that's something you can choose. I'm a Real Sociedad supporter since I was born, I'm a LFC fan since I was a children. It was first awe, awe that was raised when we play against LFC and lost (we were champions of Spain at that times, but Liverpool was king of Europe) then that awe was converted in love progresively.

Toshack talked about Liverpool all the time, my idol was John Aldridge and he talked about the kop, and you start loving LFC. But that's not something you choose, I think, it just happens.

Agreed mate, it is always good to follow a team since you were born!

Hopefully Real Sociedad can stay in the Primera! My mates are Real Madrid supporters,  so i'll be watching Real Sociedad when they play them

Does anyone know Mark Gonzalez's real name?

Apparently I was told Gonzalez is his middle name!

His Christian name is Mark Dennis (South American people love having two Christian names).
And his family names or surnames are:
González Hoffmann.
His father's name is Raúl González. (A different one from the useless player from Real Madrid)
And I guess, because I don't know, that his mother's surname is Hoffmann.

The most crowded poll about Man of the match in Real Sociedad world is the one of the local newspaper. Mark Gonzalez has been again man of match for our fans.

If you dig in this thread you might find that I had good prospect for him, but still work had to be done in his physic form. That work has been done and he played his first whole 90 minutes.

I confirm it, his very long range shot, is UNUSUALLY GOOD. I'll explain my point. My position in the crowd is just behind the northern goal, in the top stand. I was just behind Mark's position for the free kick. The crowd was muttering when he was preparing the kick, as we all admired his goal against Getafe. I commented my mate the range of the shot was similar to the one of Getafe, but more centered. And he shot. And his strenght to the ball is like Roberto Carlos' or Koeman's but with curling the ball :O I saw perfectly how the ball had incredible strength but also a wicked curling, so it might seem Arnau made a mistake but it was a TOUGH one for the keeper. He put 2 men in the barrier only, but I think that's a wise decission in long range shots. So Arnau was tricked by the curl, only could parry it with the legs, and Skoubo scored the sitter. The merit of the goal was Mark's terrible effort.

He helped the team when Malaga tried to attack us, he made no less than 12 runs, and he outrunned his defender everytime. He made another two shots on goal, that ended up in a good save.

I think he's a big buy, and as expected, there was no better place than San Sebastian in order he got his best competition form.

On a side note, Mikel Alonso has been eventually sitted down in the bench, by Bakero, our coach. We put playing Garitano, a "Hamman"-esque defensive midfielder, that doesn't run that much, but actually knows to tacke. And we won 3-0. Enough said. If Alonso is out, we'll have no problems to avoid relegation. Our calendar is good in the last 6 games, although we visitir Real Madrid next week. There are 8 teams in a 4 points interval, and our calendar is not as tough as many of them. I'm more positive now.

Gonzalez? thrilled with him.

People is amazed. His interviews, his commands in the pitch, his attitude, are RARE for a man that came on loan for just some months. He's not a mercenary, he's just a great footballer. I like the lad a lot. Thumbs up.

Cheers for the update Sabre!

I have to say the more I hear about this guy and the more clips I see of him play the more excited I get.  Judging by Benitez's record in the transfer market to date I have little doubt that this guy will be a success.  And it will be a bonus if he helps Sociedad stay up!
