First time I seen it. Anyone saying he deserved to go for that is a bell end. Sorry. That was a f*cking joke. Mascherano's reaction after seeing the yellow just says it all. Complete astonishment. That ref is a c*ck sucker!

did you watch the match?  It wasn't just that incident it was the 7 before where he was sprinting up to the Ref and complaining.  FFS he was shouting "F**K off" to the ref for 5 mins after his yellow card and it isn't on.  Masch was bang out of order and he had to be sent off.  Blame him, not the ref.

Yeah. So he shouted :censored: off to the ref. So?

He disagreed with him. It's a man's sport. And refs aren't always 100% correct. If I felt aggrieved, I'd tell someone to f*ck off too. Refs are clueless sometimes. At times they just don't use common sense. A talking to from the ref would have been adequate, but instead he goes and turns the game on its head and ruins it as a contest. It's getting to the point where you can't make a tackle or even express your emotions. Players are booked for celebrating a goal by taking their shirts off and the like. It's a f*cking joke. If you can't express your emotions on the pitch, then what's the point? Next they'll be issuing cards for spitting on the pitch.

Bring in Rugby refs thats what i say, They seem to be coached in the rules of reason and 9/10 get it right.

Yeah, and I'm sure they hear their fair share of harsh language.

Gerrard covered exceptionally well, Torres too.  Alonso wasn't here.

Bad day and outplayed and away at a big stadium and a man down.

I still beleive with some real wingers and a strong defense this team can beat Man U.

Nope there is more to it than just new players, I was warming to Rafa again after recent non rotation and good results but today again highlighted the problems, lack of imaginative tactics, persisting with that useless footballer Kuyt and an inability to get the lads fired up for the big premiership matches.

Here is my wish list for the summer, DIC to finally come in with 100% ownership, sack Rafa and get the best manager available and give him sh1tloads of money because we need some serious investment if we are to compete with Chavski, Arsenal and especially Manure.

And be like chelsea? No way sacking rafa is not the answer , i rather we don't win the league then buy it , good hardwork alweays pays off , we're 2 to 3 signings away from a title

we were 2 or 3 this time last year. how often does that get said?

abusing the officalls isn't on and there lies why you cannot understand the sending off.  MAsch was out of order and a fool.....he needs to grow up.

We want Chelsea to win?  I would hate United to make this 10?  Idk much about their history and I couldn't give a fu*k either.

Although Masch had every right to complain, that red sure is going to hurt with the upcoming games.

My two cents:

1) Mascherano let himself and the team down.  With a referee as officious as Bennett and after the Ashley Cole talking point of the week it is absolute lunacy to get in the referee's face about a decision against a teammate.  Some have suggested this showed leadership but real leadership doesn't involve putting yourself in a position to get sent off at Old Trafford with your side already a goal down (not to mention getting yourself suspended for the derby next week).  Ridiculous rush of blood moment from the young lad. :no

2) I see a few people questioning the tactics but isn't this exactly what the anti-rotationers have been preaching for months: finding your best 11, building up some momentum and sticking with the successful formula no matter what?  Why would we revert back to 4-4-2 in this game after the success we've enjoyed with 4-2-3-1?  Why would Rafa play Pennant ahead of Kuyt, when Kuyt's been playing in this system for weeks and looking the better for it?  Bottom line: we needed to see how the formation fared against a top side.  Unfortunately, the results are rather inconclusive thanks to the sending off.  I do hope Rafa persists with it against Everton and Arsenal, however.

3) I certainly don't think we were a "disgrace" today and this notion that no one showed up gives no credit to the opposition whatsoever.  Perhaps Gerrard had a quiet game because he had Carrick and Anderson shadowing him everywhere, with Scholes harrying Alonso at every turn.  Perhaps Babel didn't get in the match because we barely got him the ball, thanks to a congested midfield.  Perhaps playing 10 against 11 for 50 minutes ensured that the lads were quiet?  There was about 10 minutes there in the 2nd half when we barely touched the ball and our lads had to run themselves into the ground just to keep the door shut at the back.  Any wonder why they didn't look like world beaters?

4) Reina had a strange game for me.  Some very nervy moments combined with some sheer brilliance to keep Rooney and Ronaldo out.  He's a bit like Mascherano, if you like--an aggressive player that sometimes verges on the reckless.  He gets away with it 19 times out of 20 but occasionally he gets caught out.  Today he got caught out for the first goal, certainly (although Skrtel should have dealt with the cross much, much better), and arguably for the second as well (although Alonso let Ronaldo build up a good head of steam).  Reina's mentally resilient, though.  He'll bounce back like all top keepers do (and make no mistake, he's a top keeper) and his aggression will no doubt save our bacon many more times in future matches.

All told, it's hard to draw too many conclusions about today's game thanks to the sending off.  My feeling, however, is that United were the better side before the red card and that we probably would have struggled to get something from the game anyway.  That that was the case whilst we played a settled side in a settled formation that has done very well over the last month suggests to me that rotation was only one of our problems this season.  We still need a few more class players in our starting 11 to cause a team like United problems all over the pitch.  Until we do, it's hard to envision Old Trafford (or Emirates or Stamford Bridge) being a happy hunting ground for us.  That said, title challenges are built primarily on beating the lesser sides and holding your own against the top sides.  I think we do have the personnel to do the former but need that extra bit of quality to sort out the latter and make a real fist of challenging for the title.

Out of order for what? Do you even know what he said to the ref when he walked up to him? From Mascherano's reaction, I'd be willing to bet he said absolutely nothing to warrant a second yellow. It's a f*cking disgrace, and so are you for agreeing with that decision. Even Mr Bitter Andy Gray himself disagreed, yet you agree? Come on!

As much as the ref was a joke, as much as things didnt go our way, as much as we wasnt up for it, it mainly boils down to one thing.

Were simply not good enough.

There's a fair difference between getting completely dismissed from a game by being shown red, and being sent to a sin bin.

Without a doubt, i would love to see them get miked up so that we could not just hear what the players are saying but also to hear there bumbling conversations with there so called 4th officials and also how they come to there decisions. Unfortunately the FA would never have that as it would highlight how totally incompetent these so called officials are.

Consistantly the refs are getting it wrong. I am not saying what mashc done is correct but the ref was aware he was on a yellow he could have warned mashc to walk away or be booked. they do that in Rugby and the players know they will do it.

Also refs in rugby are younger lads. No i am not gay my point is they are not old farts that become intimidated by a group of players running towards them.

Until the FA deal with these old fecking farts that are :censored: with power the more and more we will see games totally dominated by :censored: refs

so its ok to shout f**k off to the ref when you get booked?  Its acceptable to sprint over the the ref and rant and rave at them everytime a decision goes against you?

Masch let himself and LFC down today and if he hadn't been sent off for questioning the Torres yellow card he would have been sent off later on for something else.  The fact you are defending Masch for letting us down is baffling.

Cmon chelsea

I'd much prefer Arsenal to win, personally.  The last thing I want is the Mancs to win another title and I still hold out some hope that we can catch Chelsea up for third (for whatever that's worth).
