Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Although no end of you will disagree, and bearing in mind I have thought this for a while - I believe Xabi Alonso is Liverpool's best player.

Stevie G has the swash-buckling adventure-type-style, while Alonso just dictates the pace of the game, stops an unbelievable amount of opposition attacks despite staying on his feet, and creates so many chances for goals that you'd need a calculator by half time!

I know JC is a brilliant defender, and SG is our top scorer and a true powerhouse with skill to boot, but lets be honest - Xabi has it all.

LFC top 5 players (overall ability)in decending order, as I see it:

Alonso
Gerrard
Carragher
Hyypia
Hamann.

Garymac wrote:yeah Gerrard was good and looked knackered at the end, my point is Alonso dictated the game 2nd half, Fu*king beautifully, he is the Rafa of the team he managers things out there why gerrard gets them going, it allows Gerrard more freedom to do things attacking wise knowing he has someone in control of the game 15 yards behind him.

i hear you, i just wish i could of watched the game on tv. Its hard to have a big opinion on the game from watching it. Couldnt really tell to much on what alonso was doing. He made some important tackles, and kept the play going. The annoucer was like Gerrard is running everywhere and was trying to get some drive together during the first half. He was even screaming at the team after the 3rd goal i think it was. Carra was yelling at hyypia over the one big mistake. Gerrard and Alonso both had good games.

I hope Liverpool appeal to the FA about Carson's yellow card as it should have been neither penalty nor booking as the striker stood on Carsons foot OUTSIDE the area. So irritating. Scoreline should have been 5-2 however we should not have come that close to defeat especially against a 9th placed team in the Championship. Bravo Sinama-Pongolle & Xabi Alonso.
