It's not 13 million, it was 14 million and while he was the top league scorer in Le Championat, the league is possibly one of the weakest out there.

I think 14 million was a bit too much.

cisse is a young, world-class striker.... think of all the other strikers who match that description and tell me they have/would cost less than £14 then.

I don't think he's a world-class striker,he hasn't proven himself yet here in order for me or anybody to say that he's a class striker, yes he's scored tons of goals in France but Kezman scored around 30 goals for PSV but does that make him a world-class striker?

He has pace, skill but he has to prove that he's worth 14 million.

the original arguement was that he wasnt worth wateva we paid for him. i disagree with that n reckon by xmas he'll prove himself. the games he has played for liverpool, he may hav only scored a couple of times, but u cant doubt that his pace, technique and eye for goal will make him worth every penny of that £14 in seasons to come.

I think people underestimate the french league.  Come on look at Lyon in the Champions League and Monaco too!

Both from the French league both very impressive in the CL
And Monaco and Lyon were very good in the CL last season as well, and Marseille in the UEFA cup, very impressive once again.

The french league isnt as bad as you are making out.

Well Lyon have been dominating for the past 3 or 4 years making it very predictable and uninteresting. Monaco were strong only because of Morientes,Saviola and Prso. They aren't as strong this year.

When you compare the French League to the Bundesliga,Seria,La Liga and the Premiership it is not that strong and prestigious.

What do you know about the french league other than reading from the internet? I admit they are not as prestigious, but not as strong? ???

Garcia will continue to improve his game under Rafa. I liken the partnership between him and Morientes to produce a good number of goals. ???

Not as famout perhaps but you only need to look at recent success by Marseille, Lyon and Monaco last season.  And Lyon and Monaco again this season (and monaco are WITHOUT Morientes AND Prso this year) so not as famous as bundesliga, epl, la liga, serie a perhaps but far from the piffling league a lot of ppl think it is.

the main factor why French Ligue and perhaps Dutch league has been so underrated is simply due to the top french professionals all playing in foreign leagues such as EPL, La liga, Serie A. However, it is certainly not true that Bundesliga is more prestigious than the French Ligue and Dutch League. Bundesliga has been on the slide since Bayern and Dortmund stopped dominating. i reckon French and Dutch Ligue will start to have a say when their teams appear in the CL knockout phases more freqently, and not what everybody thinks flukly.

Garcia is much improved of late but I'm still not convinced.  Still gives the ball away too much, but a few more performances like against leverkusen and everton and I'll have no complaints.

As for those of you questioning cisse's value for money, I think it is a disgrace.  The guy's career could have been over so lets get things in perspective a bit here and not whine about what we spent on him.  I happen to think he will go on to be an excellent player for us
