Luis Garcia Leaves Anfield - He Signs for Athletico Madrid

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Paul C » Tue Jul 03, 2007 8:55 pm

Just got back from Greece and I have to say it's sad news to see Luis go, he loved the club/fans and we loved him, yeah he was a little frustating in away games but he chipped in 10+ goals a season which will be missed, the only thing I can think is Rafa has a replacement lined up ???

The main reason I can think why Garcia left is his young kid and he probably wants his family in Spain, good luck Luis and hope you do well at Athletico :)

Luis is a great player, i could see him many times with my team (At Madrid) and sometimes with Liverpool (my favorite premier team), and i like his skills on attack very much. But Torres haven't average skills only, his devotion, struggle and commitment are better even more.

its a difficult one to call, one one hand i think good riddance, you gave the ball away too often, you are weak in tackle and you would never track back.

on the other hand he reminded me of keegan (for his heading ability for a small guy), he scored some spectacular goals and at times his play was good, but all too often i think my memories of garcia will be how frustrated he left me more often than not.

I'm really gutted to see Luis leave. Definately one of my favorite players. He was unpredictable, dangerous and on big games he always put out amazing performances. I really wanted to see more of his partnership with Crouch, which i found as a great option up front for us. He could have formed a great partnership with Torres too... best of luck Luis, YNWA

Well I thought he was a really really good player. If I was the manager at Athletico (and ten years ago I probably could have been, everybody else got a couple of weeks in the job) I would play him up front. No off the front man, linking up play, out wide or any of that old b0ll0cks, up front. If they do, and he gets the protection from the referees he is accustomed to in Spain then in my opinion he will score a mountain of goals. If he plays, he will score. When you make the kind of runs he does, and get yourself open as often as he does, and anticipate like he does you will always, always score goals.

Farewell little fella and thanks for the memories. I still remember when you made (I think) your debut at Bolton away and your clever movement and precise finish got us a much needed late equaliser which was incorrectly ruled out. I've a hunch you may be one we regret letting go.

Do you think that Luís García is recuperated of his injury(lesion*)?

*How is it in English? Injury or lesion?
