I'm not baiting you.

You need to watch the 90 mins.

He was unlucky when he hit the post. He was also donkey-esq at other times, the ones that weren't obviously highlighted.

I am not for 1 minute suggesting that Lucas is going to be the saviour of the season however he is an extremely important cog in the wheel. Him coming back will release both Gerrard and Allen to move into the more advanced position and in turn offer more of a goal threat - thus taking the burden off of Suarez.

Anyone who watched the LFC documentary on C5 recently will have heard Rodgers talk (before Lucas picked up his injury) about how important he saw Lucas in the midfield - for the very reasons I mention above. He is better at that defensive MF role than Allen and I thought we saw more of the 'real' Joe Allen at the weekend. Looks confortable in advanced positions and has an eye for a pass. Unlike when he was in the defensive role when all he appeared to do is pass sideways or backwards.

Lucas coming back will benefit Joe Allen because Allen at times has looked overrun playing in that deep position and at times looks uncomposed, tired and his performances have suffered as a result over time.

people need to remember aswell that lucas is a leader on the pitch. sounds daft to say but he's one of the senior players in this side now. he never shirks responsibility when others may hide. we've been a team who've been mentally weak and severely lacked leadership in recent times. i'd consider reina and skrtel leaders to some extent aswell but their form has been indifferent this season.

He's had 8 successful tackles in the game against Southampton, which is the club's record for this season in the Premier League

I've been impressed with his passing since he has been back. He doesn't always get it right, but he does look to be positive with the ball, not always just passing it 5 yards sideways. Really loving having him back in the side.

I guess January will be focused on attackers, but him being back has underlined how much we missed a player like him. Hope we pick up another DM for the squad.

Lucas was fantastic tonight. He brings poise, balance and direction to the midfield. The team looks much better with him there.
