Im imagining the scenario at Rafas first training session at liverpool watching Cheyrou, Traore, le Tallec, Baros, Biscan and Diao having a kick around and he turning to Paco and going oh dear what have we signed up for? Then he thinks ok I know what I'l do I'l basically keep the supporters happy by winning a Champions League in the first year and in the next few years gradually turn things around at the club the way I want to and eventually get it to the stage where we might win the premiership. Then he turns to david Moores and he says hey Mr. Chairman you have lots of money right? buy me some quality layers and Moores says no Im not that wealty but Im going to sell the club soon to someone far richer than me and everything will be ok. In the meantime Chelsea win a league with there instant wealth while Liverpool have to look on without any vast sums of cash. Now, fast forward a couple of years and 2 champions league finals later and he asks the new chairmen for more money just say more money than Tottenham or Sunderland are going to spend and the chairmen say "no rawfa we dont want to give you money, your job is to coach the team now go out and win the premier league Rawfa." In the meantime we have journalists who love to stir up things because negative stories are get for selling papers so Rafa has to deal with that too.
Ah the joys of being a Liverpool manager

Ok that was not atal weird :no

But strangly i wanted to read on :D

I don't think Rafa can complain about how much money he's had to spend. I would have liked him to have more obviously, but he's had plenty.

Pedro Maradona wrote:good post! Im sick of the hysteria of it all, Even the best got it wrong the odd time, Anyone remember after we did the double under King Kenny in 1986 and the following season (1987) when Everton won the league, we won nothing and got beaten by Arsenal in the League Cup? they wrote us off said that was the end of Liverpool and the next year we went out bought Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge, Houghton and we were possibly one of the best teams on the planet? thats football, you have to be patient.
Media saturation means every single pass is analysed to the extreme. An :censored: like Andy Gray points something out and before you know it everyone who has skysports is an expert. Player, managers are human they make mistakes sometimes Rafa is no different, thats football. We live in a world where we want everything instantly, we have to be patient. unlike chelsea our owners dont want to part with their money so im afraid winning an instant league with the help of billions of pounds isnt going to happen. So lets give the man time, Rome wasnt built in a day.

Sadly, and depressingly, those days are over methinks.

My favourite LFC ever - 1987-88.

Just dont think it can be done again.

I love Rafa - but I dont think he'll ever win us the Prem.
Sorry, ........

Agreed about babel.......IMO he is not even potential...just a massively over-rated player (similar to cisse)...

Well every manager is allowed 1 or 2 costly mistakes.. :)

If i'm not mistaken, Gerrard tried to clear the ball (he kicked the ball) out of the penalty box which unfortunately hit macherano in the chest, the ball bounced and bramble kicked the ball into the net.....

Rafa looked totally deflated in the after match interview, he was going mad on the sidelines and when the whistle went pointed at a player on the pitch and said something, what I don't know but he didn't look angry in the interview just really depressed :(

How many games is it now where we've said that we'd have won the game but missed many decent chances.

Class striker needed I think cos Torres can't do everything on his own and Kuyt/Voronin aren't gonna help.

I think not.

I think had the score been 1-0, we'd all be talking about how well such and such played and how good the team performed, which let's be honest, they did perform. They played well as a unit. It's just a sad fact that once again, as so many times in the past, we never killed the opposition off. Start searching for reasons why this is happening rather than come out and blame the manager or asking for his head. It's annoying. And old.

Isnt it more to do with the fact that again its 2 points dropped.  Its not like we havent dropped much points this year and tonight is jut unlucky or one of those nights.  Its failure to win a game we should be winning again which is the problem.

Well, to recall, there was one moment watching the game that stood out for me now that I think about it. It was directly after Gerrard hit his free kick and Kirkland parried the ball and it was cleared or someone missed, I can't really remember. Anyway, it was Rafa's reaction. Instead of holding his hand on his head, or puffing his cheeks like most people do after a good chance happens, instead he sat there and he looked furious as he shook his head and bite his lip. He knew. He knew that was needed to kill it. And he was p*ssed at his players for not finishing it off. Our finishing is now letting us down at a crucial stage of the season. This is why we are out of it. Nothing much else. I will wait and see who it is we sign next before pouring any condemnation on the manager, or IF he's allowed to sign these match winning players that he covets from these two b@stard yanks. We'll see who the villain is in time now.

Well, that's very harsh, and IMO very, very wrong. Way off the mark there.

This is true ... he could have gotten a few assists today if those around him were sharper - even gerrard missed a good chance that came from torres if my memory serves ...

But in my mind he should be the one getting assists, not providing assists !
